The ratio of male to female in the audience was 1 to 9. 35.5% were 16 to 19 years old, and 22.4% were 13 to 15 years old. 14.3% were in their 20s.
The cast at their opening-day stage greetings announced that Arashi band member Kazunari Ninomiya (Gantz, Tekkonkinkreet, Letters from Iwo Jima) voiced Koro-sensei in the film. Hey! Say! JUMP band member Ryōsuke Yamada (Kindaichi Case Files' Kindaichi) leads the cast.

Viz Media will publish the third Assassination Classroom manga volume in North America in April. The publisher describes the story:
A humorous and action-packed story about a class of misfits who are trying to kill their new teacher – an alien octopus with bizarre powers and super strength! The teacher has just destroyed the moon and is threatening to destroy the earth – unless his students can destroy him first. What makes things more complicated is that he's the best teacher they've ever had!
The group Sensa-tions performed the theme song "Koro-Sensa-tions" to the film. The song includes vocals by Ninomiya.
Eiichirō Hasumi (Umizaru films, Wild 7) directed the film, and Tatsuya Kanazawa (Saru Lock The Movie, Lucky Seven) wrote the script.
