Right Stuf announced during its Anime Expo panel on Saturday that its Nozomi Entertainment imprint has licensed the Junjō Romantica 3 television anime. The company also detailed its releases of the Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Revolutionary Girl Utena, and The Irresponsible Captain Tylor anime.
Nozomi Entertainment will release Junjō Romantica 3, the third television anime season inspired by Shungiku Nakamura's manga, on Blu-ray Disc in North America in 2018. The release will have Japanese audio and English subtitles. Nozomi Entertainment describes the story:
Junjo Romantica 3 continues the ongoing story of three couples: The Romantica couple - college student Misaki Takahashi and his tutor, Akihiko Usami, the stormy Egoist couple—Professor Hiroki Kamijou, a tsundere, doted on by Nowaki Kusama, and The dramatic Terrorist couple—divorced literature professor Yo Miyagi, and his younger lover, Shinobu Tatasuki. It's complicated. But so worth it.
Funimation streamed the series as it aired in 2015, and Crunchyroll is currently streaming the anime. Nakamura's original manga already inspired two anime seasons in 2008, and Right Stuf licensed both for North America. Right Stuf will release the first season on Blu-ray Disc on July 11. Crunchyroll is also streaming the first two series.
Right Stuf and Sunrise will release Mobile Suit Gundam Wing with both the original video anime (OVA) and film versions of Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz in three sets on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in fall 2017. The companies will also release a Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Ultimate Collector's Edition during the holiday 2017 season, and they will announce details of the release soon. The releases will have English and Japanese audio and English subtitles. Right Stuf describes the anime's story:
Mankind has moved into space. Thousands of people live on giant orbiting space colonies called "Sides." However, the Earth Government, which rules the colonies, is unjust and cruel. A group of revolutionaries build five robotic weapons called Gundams and plan to send them to Earth to begin their fight for independence. Piloted by five young men, these Gundams carry the colonists' hopes and dreams of freedom with them as they descend to Earth to begin Operation Meteor!
The series premiered in 1995 and ran for 49 episodes. In 2000, it became the first Mobile Suit Gundam series to premiere on television in the United States. The series spawned the Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz sequel OVA, which was later compiled into a film.
Bandai Entertainment previously released the television series in North America on DVD and VHS. The series is available streaming with both English and Japanese audio on Hulu and in Japanese with English subtitles on Crunchyroll. The series left the Daisuki streaming service last month. Sunrise and Right Stuf announced their partnership in 2014 to release the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise in North America.
Nozomi Entertainment will release the Revolutionary Girl Utena television anime in three Blu-ray Disc collections starting in October. The release will have English and Japanese audio with English subtitles. The Revolutionary Girl Utena Ultra Edition 20th Anniversary Blu-ray Collection will also be available in the holiday 2017 season with all 39 episodes of the television anime, as well as the film and other limited-edition items. Nozomi Entertainment describes the anime's story:
"Never lose that strength or nobility, even when you grow up." When Utena was just a child and in the depths of sorrow, she found salvation in those words. They were the words of a prince, who wrapped her in his rose-scented embrace and bestowed upon her both a ring and the promise that it would lead her to him again. She never forgot the encounter. In fact, she was so impressed that she aspired to be like the prince and also help those in need. Now a spirited teenager, Utena attends the prestigious Ohtori Academy. However, her strong sense of chivalry soon places her at odds with the school's student council and thrusts her into a series of mysterious and dangerous duels against its members.
The 39-episode series originally aired in 1997. Right Stuf released the series in three DVD sets in North America in 2011. Central Park Media released the series on VHS and DVD between 1998-2004.
Nozomi Entertainment will release The Irresponsible Captain Tylor television anime series and 10-part OVA series in two Blu-ray Disc in 2018. The release will have English and Japanese audio with English subtitles. Nozomi Entertainment describes the story:
Justy Ueki Tylor had his life all planned out: join the military, get a cushy desk job, and then retire with a big fat pension check. The perfect plan...until he wandered into a hostage situation and somehow managed to save an Admiral! Now Tylor, a man who wouldn't know what discipline was if it bit him in the backside, has been made Captain of the space cruiser Soyokaze! The crew of this run-down ship is the craziest rag-tag team of misfits you're ever likely to see, and they're not too fond of their complacent new leader. But they had better learn to work together, because they're about to go head to head with the mighty Raalgon Empire! For better or for worse, the Earth's fate has been placed in the hands of a man who's either a total idiot, or an absolute genius...
The anime debuted in 1993, followed by the OVA in 1994. Nozomi Entertainment released the television series on DVD in 2013. The company is streaming the first two episodes of the television series with an English dub, as well as all 26 episodes of the television anime and the OVA in Japanese with English subtitles on YouTube. Right Stuf released the series on the PlayStation Network in 2010.
