Character's anime designs revealed

The official website for the Himōto! Umaru-chan R sequel anime announced on Friday that Inori Minase will play the new character Hikari Kongō. Hikari is a student in the special advanced class at Umaru's high school. She has a mysterious atmosphere about her, and she acts like she has some kind of relationship to the Doma family.

The anime's first first DVD and Blu-ray Disc volume will include a mini PC game titled "Dara Dara Quest" (Sloven Quest). The show will have six home video volumes containing two episodes each, for a total of 12 episodes. The first home video release is slated for December 13 with the mini game and an early ticket application voucher for a special event with the cast on March 18.

The staff also announced that Inori Minase will perform at the event.

Himouto! Umaru-chan R premiered in Japan on AT-X on October 8. The anime is streaming in the United States on Anime Strike and in other territories on select digital platforms. Sentai Filmworks is also planning a home video release.

The main staff is returning from the first season, including the anime studio Doga Kobo, director Masahiko Ohta, series script supervisor Takashi Aoshima, and character designer Aya Takano.

The theme song performers are the same as the first season's. The group SisterS — comprised of Tanaka, Akari Kageyama (Ebina), Haruka Shiraishi (Kirie), and Yurina Furukawa (Sylphynford) — performs the ending theme song "Umarun Taisō" (Umarun Calisthenics).

The first television anime series premiered in July 2015, and Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired. Sentai Filmworks released the anime in North America with an English dub on May 30.

The manga and anime's story centers around Taihei Doma and his little sister Umaru, who boasts beautiful looks as well as prowess in both school and sports. However, she has a certain secret. Everyone may think she is the ideal girl, but she is anything but. "Himōto" is a pun on "imōto" (little sister) and "himono," which means "dried fish," but in slang can refer to a woman who is proper in public but lazy at home.
