The official website for Overlord III, the third television anime season based on Kugane Maruyama's Overlord novel series, announced on Wednesday that the franchise has a new game made using RPG Maker MV. The game is already available for download for free on Windows and Mac, and is also playable in a web browser.
In the game, players can control either Momon or Narberal, and aim to become adamantite-ranked adventurers.
The anime premiered on July 10. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime, and Funimation is streaming an English dub. The anime is listed with 13 episodes.
Madhouse is returning from the first two seasons to animate the new season. OxT is returning to perform the opening theme song "VORACITY," while MYTH&ROID is also returning to perform the ending theme song "Silent Solitude."
The first 13-episode Overlord television anime series premiered in Japan in July 2015. Funimation streamed the anime series as it aired in Japan, and the company released the series with an English dub on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in November 2016.
The novels and anime's story takes place in the year 2138 when virtual reality gaming is booming. Yggdrasil, a popular online game, is quietly shut down one day. However, the protagonist Momonga decides to not log out. Momonga is then transformed into the image of a skeleton as "the most powerful wizard." The world continues to change, with non-player characters (NPCs) beginning to feel emotion. Having no parents, friends, or place in society, this ordinary young man Momonga then strives to take over the new world the game has become.
