Libra of the Vampire Princess Kickstarter is NOW LIVE!
MiKandi Japan and XERO push the launch button on their first-ever crowdfunding project!
TOKYO, JAPAN - The time has finally arrived! After 10 weeks of many sleepless nights, hard work and preparation, MiKandi Japan and XERO have launched their first-ever Kickstarter for the official English translation of "Libra of the Vampire Princess"! The crowdfunding campaign is running from Dec. 10th, 2015 through Jan. 20th, 2016. If the 40-day long campaign is a success, translation will begin immediately after -- after a brief celebration, that is.

Many potential backers had voiced concern over Libra's launch date after it had been announced a few weeks ago. James, MiKandi Japan's Project Manager commented on the topic:
"Since starting 'Libra,' we've steadily built a momentum that's grown into something we must now take advantage of. There are all sorts of indicators that confirm our time is now. Even though we're rolling straight through the middle of the busy holiday season, we are hopeful it will help the campaign… especially during its final days. Some have expressed to us that they will be investing in 'Libra' as their holiday gift for next year. Also, we've got our secret weapon, the "Vampire Princess Army," marching with us towards victory which is a huge plus. It's go time!” - James (Project Manager, MiKandi Japan)
After sharing their campaign on Prefundia, MiKandi Japan has made several changes based on feedback. Reward tiers, price points, payment options, and stretch goals were adjusted, refining things further. The biggest change is the recent budget slash. The original funding goal was 170K, but through renegotiating translation costs and procedures, MiKandi Japan has brought it down to 125K.
“Now that we've arrived at 120K, we feel 'Libra' is even leaner and meaner than before! This won't compromise quality in the least. Even though we've removed a 3rd translation pass from the budget, the team has agreed to do it for free. We are all **** very eager make this project great!” - Jonathan (Marketing, MiKandi Japan)
MiKandi Japan had been ramping up to their launch day with daily “reveals”. This was where each day something new about their Kickstarter campaign would be uncovered. For example, on one day, they had announced that the physical copy of Libra would be DRM-free for all backers; on a another day, they gave fans a third EN gameplay preview (a battle scene).
Now, MiKandi Japan and XERO keep a hopeful eye on their campaign and to the future of visual novels. Fans and backers can expect to be updated on social media and through Kickstarter.
