Pre-orders for the Statue “Winter Journey 2025”, Based on the Popular Japanese Manga Berserk, Will Begin on December 19

The piece captures the footprints of two travelers as they make their way through a freezing winter landscape.

JAPAN, TOKYO - December 5, 2025 -Japanese fine-art brand ART OF WAR (Kenshin Co., Ltd.) will begin accepting orders for the Berserk statue “Winter Journey 2025” via the official ART OF WAR online store from December 19, 2025, 05:00 p.m (Japan Standard Time).

This work depicts the harsh journey of Berserk protagonists Guts and Casca in sculptural form. Berserk is a globally acclaimed Japanese manga series with total worldwide sales exceeding 50 million copies.

■ Their gazes will never meet

Following the Eclipse, Guts carries his former lover Casca — who has lost her sense of self and can no longer walk steadily — as he desperately pushes forward along a freezing, snow-covered road.

Branded with the Mark of Sacrifice, the two are relentlessly attacked day and night by monsters and evil spirits. As Guts fights to protect Casca despite his growing injuries, they continue their painful journey onward.

Though they walk side by side, their gazes will never meet.

For nearly 30 years, ART OF WAR has continuously pursued excellence in three-dimensional art in Japan, establishing itself as a premium art brand defined by its commitment to being both one-of-a-kind and best-in-class. By combining world-class Japanese IP with its own sculptural expertise, the company has helped establish IP × art statues in the market — positioning them not as “figures,” but as true sculptural works of art.

One of the reasons ART OF WAR's works are defined as art lies not only in the exceptionally high level of craftsmanship, but also in the careful depiction of character psychology, narrative context, and atmosphere within each piece.

Highlights

The striking contrast between Casca's lifeless, vacant gaze and Guts' desperate will to survive.

Though they face the same destination, their eyes are turned in completely different directions. While Guts cuts down the monsters that attack them in order to protect her, Casca — having lost her memories — trembles in fear before the wild, unfamiliar man fighting at her side.

Once bound by love, the two now walk together in body alone — their hearts no longer aligned.

This work expresses the unbridgeable emotional divide between them through a single, powerful exchange of gazes.

■ Contrast through color

Contrast is also expressed through coloration, particularly in the difference between Guts' armor and Casca's fabric garments.

The armor, in particular, possesses a realism that suggests it was forged from real metal. This level of authenticity is only achievable because ART OF WAR actively engages in armor research and restoration projects, giving the team an intimate understanding of genuine materials.

Although the statue itself is fully crafted from polystone, the clear distinction in surface texture relies not only on sculpting but especially on painting.

The fact that the difference between iron (armor) and cloth is felt so vividly within a single work reflects ART OF WAR's identity as an art brand and its position at the highest level of statue craftsmanship.

From its founding, the company has approached statue production not simply as licensed character figures, but as fine art — infusing each work with Japanese aesthetic sensibilities and expertise to create a distinctive sculptural language of its own.

■ Deepening the winter, their footprints...

Originally released in 2015 and quietly gaining a devoted following among fans, Winter Journey now returns as ART OF WAR's final release of 2025, with orders opening in December under the title Winter Journey 2025 — at the height of the winter season.

Unlike the original edition, this release features a specially applied snow finish, created to deepen the thematic impact of Winter Journey.

Snow has settled onto the faces and clothing of Guts and Casca as they walk through falling flurries, intensifying the sense of biting cold. Some of the snow has begun to harden — just how far have they already travelled?

This winter, we invite you to follow their footprints… and feel the meaning behind their journey.
