A certain incident sets him on a descent into darkness.

Okay this might be a random thing to ask but, why to so many summaries of Japanese entertainment (manga, movies, anime, video games, etc) use the term "a certain incident"? I assume it's for avoidance of spoilers, and a quirk of translation but it always sounds so forced and not like natural English at all when translated. I mean, a "mysterious incident" or something similar would sound less... ridged.

Maybe it just means the light bulb in the guy's room popped and he didn't have a torch to go downstairs to get another bulb with? Just guessing. Laughing

Apparently in this case it's referring to the March 11th 2011 Tsunami, so it's understandable that they are being sensitive about it for obvious reasons. I also still think that it is silted phrasing in other cases where it is just spoiler avoidance.
