Unless you guys are talking about the manga, (which shouldn't be in this section) the only legal way to buy He is my Master is by imports. Also, if you don't like perverse humor I wouldn't recommend watching it. I like it though, it's pretty funny. It's mainly a comedy.

Yeah, don't go buying any bootlegs for this show, or anything that looks like a cheap deal (the real, legitimate R2 DVDs will not have English (or Chinese!) subtitles). That said, if you appreciate maid comedy and parody humor, Gainax-style, I would recommend giving it a watch on fansub. Of course, I can't tell you where to get it, but I thought it was pretty funny, and it's only 12 episodes to go through, so it's not a Naruto or Bleach-like committment.

It was an okay series in my opinion it had some good comedy, but I didn't really get attached to any of the characters and the humor gets kind of repetitive. I don't know if I'd recomend it to anyone unless you really like harem show comedy and wierdness.

I consider He is My Master a parody that ridicules almost every shounen harem aspects into a psychotic comedy. I mean how often do we see Yoshitaka as a shameless 13 year old pervert; most male protagonists are usually milquetoast and indecisive. Yoshitaka knows what he wants, and he'll do it by any means necessary.

Izumi may be the victim in his devious plans, but she knows how to defend herself. Heck, her reactions are a bit more justified since it's not usually dealt with "misunderstandings" (on certain cases though) which seems prevalent in other shounen harem series (Naru in Love Hina or Chidori in FMP, anyone). Izumi hits him for just being a jackass towards her.

And then we some rather interesting characters also. Mitsuki is basically the conspirator who loves to make thing more "interesting" than it already is (with the help of her bodyguards, of course). The now lesbian Anna and Pochi the alligator are added to the mix to make Izumi's life "worse".

Seriously though, if you're familiar and probably getting tired with the usual shounen harem aspects and want to see something rather refreshing, this series might do it.

Okay, "shounen" is a Japanese word, but "harem" is a perfectly legitimate English word, even if it was originally a loanword from Arabic Rolling Eyes

Since shounen has been defined in another post...

Teh Wiktionary wrote:

Noun

harem (plural: harems)

1. The private part of an Arab household. In traditional Arab culture, this part of the household was forbidden to male strangers.
2. A group of women, wives and/or concubines in a polygamous household.
3. A group of female animals (cows) herded and controlled by a male animal (bull) of that species for breeding purposes. Such behaviour is exhibited by bovids including cattle and buffalo as well as moose, elephants, seals, sea lions, sea elephants.

In the context of anime, "harem" refers to shows where you have many females who all like one (usually undeserving) male, like Love Hina, Tenchi Muyou, Futakoi, Ichigo 100%, Shuffle, Ai yori aoshi, Please Teacher, Please Twins, and many others. (Sometimes this works in reverse, with one girl/many guys, as in Fruits Basket, Pretéar, or Fushigi Yuugi.) Most shounen series in the romance/comedy genre are harem, since they build fanbase by loading up the story with tons of attractive (and/or subservient, moé, helpless etc.) girls. So if you see "One guy, lots of girls," chances are you have a show of this nature. Some exceptions apply.

And btw, I conjured up this information simply by typing the word, "harem" on this amazing site. In the future, you can do the same thing, and avoid the possibility of annoying people on the forums by asking questions for which the resources are readily available to find an answer.

The whole Pochi thing is the most perverse feature of this show by far. Forget the loli fanservice, the amorous alligator's antics go way beyond the bounds of good taste as the viewer is left in no doubt whatsoever about its intentions.

It's very very weird, the anime that is. Lots of perverse humor (it actually is occasionally funny... ) I dont know if its worth buying, wait till it comes out on netflix or something to rent (if it ever will... i actually dobut that)

Oh btw, can someone clarify what shounen is? If someone defined it, i still dont understand Sad
