FYI, for those who don't know, Sexy Losers is the hentai comedy/parody webcomic previously known as Thin H Line. I used to love the strips back in the day, but I think they started to lose their appeal lately as the author explained the meaning behind them. At first I thought he was creative, but he's just a petty b*tch who makes people on his sh*t list the butt of his jokes. (And no, I'm not one of those people.) And then he has the audacity to attack the anime/manga fans who are the reason his site isn't still suffering from 404. Then he hypocritically goes otaku over Space: 1999, acting like loving that series isn't as much of a geek obsession as Sailor Moon. (So all he's really doing is co-opting the style while complaining about everyone else who appreciates it in general. He might as well get a job at IMAGE.)

I could care less about the author's motivations. Everyone has their flaws; it's a complete waste of time to make a big deal about it everytime you get to know a new person.

All I'm there for is the comic, which is still marginally good. You yourself admit that you found it funny without reading about the guys motivations... so what else is there to art? Don't read the comments if it spoils the experience for you. Duh.

I kind of wish Hard would go back to some of the old serials, though, or start inventing some better ones. A lot of the most recent strips (since, like, #85 or so) I've found pretty dull. It's been more enjoyable since he started posting them again, though, so here's to hoping that the trend continues.

I just find it hypocritical for "hard" to claim artistic license, saying that he has no reason to listen to us, and then use people like us as the subject of his ridicule. And if he doesn't care about what people think, then why'd he change his website domain? At this point, I'm beginning to believe the only reason he continues to draw these strips is for the donations, and not because he cares about the writing.

That's the way life is, man. Nobody has to listen to you, and they can take whatever ideas you're willing to give them and make art out of it. Boo hoo. Get over it.

Why don't you go ask him and find out for real, rather than trying to come up with an answer for him yourself?

As if that makes any difference. As far as I can see, the point is the same. I'm still being entertained. (I thought #192 really was an excellent parody, for what it's worth.) As I said once already, I could care less about his motivations. If he started out doing it for fun and switched over to doing it for other reasons later on... if he did it for profit from the beginning... I don't see what difference it makes. The final product is the same.

For what it's worth, I think you're considerably more hypocritical for not wanting to read the strip now just because you know something that you didn't know before. As if you should be able to read every artists' mind, and screen their motivations before you pass judgement on their art. That's nonsense.

True, but it's never a good idea to attack the people who donate to you.

"Why don't you go ask him and find out for real, rather than trying to come up with an answer for him yourself?"

Because he won't listen.

" If he started out doing it for fun and switched over to doing it for other reasons later on... if he did it for profit from the beginning... I don't see what difference it makes. The final product is the same."

No it isn't. He's just churning them out to exploit as many variations on the same joke as possible. Before, he took his time to do a strip. Now they're all pretty much the same.

"For what it's worth, I think you're considerably more hypocritical for not wanting to read the strip now just because you know something that you didn't know before."

I'm not giving up on it, just because I know more about why he drew certain strips, but also because his writing has declined. I really don't care about his blogs, but he seems to think that those should get more priority than his comic. I don't really care what drawing tools he uses either! Thin H Line's just become another website where the webmaster talks about every single facet of their personal life.

Ah yes, a man's penis confused for a USB device. Hilarous.

I really hope they bring back more of the old storylines soon. I miss Shiunji and Tomoe. I'm glad that Kenta's Horny Mom is still going strong, but the premise is starting to lose its funniness.
