I just got done watching the first episode and...It seems pretty dry to be honest.

Hopefully the next couple episodes are better.

Is it just me or is this actually an Ocean dub?

One of the things that makes the Gintama anime a 10/10 is the voice acting. There's no way this English dub can even come close to the original. And what the heck are they thinking, skipping over 200 episodes.

Might want to add that Scott McNeil plays male Kagura.

I mean nothing in this world is perfect but at least give them some credit for putting the effort into it. I was just shocked that the dub came out way sooner than I thought.

CR skipping the first 200 episodes is a mystery. Maybe because CR has plans to license season 4 and dub it to follow up from season 3? I dunno.

EDIT: Also to add, episodes 265 and before had a lot of more content and dialogues that were almost, if not, impossible to translate. Perhaps it's taking more time to make a new script that will be close to the original.

You're right, but, if dubbing helps release the series in USA and especially in the UK someday, I'm totally for it!

Just keep watching. Everyone feels the same when watching the first two episodes.

It is. Between this, World Trigger and Beyblade Burst, it seems the shitty Canadian dollar is bearing some fruit.

Gintama is one of the few anime I recommend just skipping the first episode. Another one would be Tower of Druaga... that episode will make anyone go crazy.

Actually, for Gintama you should probably skip the first two. I didn't and I regret it, because I almost dropped it.

Jesus guys, just give a chance. If it's not good, we can ignore it. But don't spite the series by not purchasing when it comes around. There's always a sub on it.

The Sentai cast for the movie did a pretty good job, but it's good to see Ocean back. I think they're among the best in the business, so I have no complaints. We've known for a while that it was dubbed in Canada, but it's such a niche show, I was expecting it to go to Blue Water.

Holy s**t!! Ran to my room squealing like a little girl at a Disney Princess themed party!

Just saw the first episode and thought it was alright/a bit bland.. Will definitely continue watching though.

So how gagdub-y is it? Usually these kinds of shows get dubs that insert a bunch of Americanized humor into it

I find it pretty strange that they skip to episode 226. Why not start at episode 1? Unless if they actually did start at episode 1, but it's just going to be uploaded at a future date.

Nonetheless, I'm actually interested in checking out the dub, but I just got two questions for any Gintama fan. Since I'm new to the series, should I start at episode 226 or episode 1? Does episodes 226-278 have any references to older episodes that I just wouldn't get unless if I watch the older episodes?

Neither, start at episode 3 and keep going no matter if one episode isn't to your fancy. It's worth it, a stranger like me promises that.
