Is this the first time they've used the international Pokemon logo for the Japanese movie trailers or has it been done before that I wasn't aware of?

Why not release it in Japanese with English subtitles instead?

That will NEVER happen, EVER. Pokemon is still one of the few anime series release in the west with no Japanese audio/subtitles, episodes that previously aired on TV pulled from DVD Releases etc.

As for this remake, i'm going to have to give this one a hard pass.

The one benefit I can see to this movie is if it gives us a more faithful dub with the original music a la The Power of Us.

The one thing I'm looking for here is whether or not there will be a more faithful dub, since it's clear there's no hope for the original edition getting redubbed at this point. I'm pretty sure we can handle a Pokemon movie that says "Life is life, no matter where it comes from," rather than "Remember, kids, fighting is baaaad."

Interestingly enough the narration by Unsho Ishizuka is new material recorded last year. It's not reused

michaeltanzer sure know how to write every sentence about why this Pokemon anime never gets Japanese language with English subtitles in every forum, he should really stop doing this. Also, i happend to noticed on the forum he wrote that he wanted to see J-pop to be popular globally like how K-pop has, you kinda reminded me of mdo7 who wrote the forum and spread it on toxic and putting so many links in it, especially that he is no longer here anymore.

(sorry for my poor English)

Also, this CGI films also tend to remind me of somewhat of CGI Detective Pikachu in somewhat similar fashion terms of it. But it kinda looks good.

Yeah, one thing is that Japan is bad at making CGI films all the time.

I'd say the same about western films. CGI is just ugly in general and can't compare with 2D animation. It's the main reason I can't be bothered with western stuff these days.

Fingers crossed it's just a one off thing like Stand by Me Doraemon, One Piece 3D, Precure 3D, and similar franchises that wanted to hop on the CG bandwagon.

I also hope Sword and Shield kicks the franchise in the ass and makes it get the franchise as a whole back together.

.
While I'm not impressed with the CGI of this remake so far, there's plenty of good CGI animation out there like most of Pixar's work and Sony's work on Into the Spiderverse. The thing people have to keep in mind is Japan is about twenty years behind everyone else when it comes to making full CGI animated works.
