I seen in old dubs back in the 90s and 2000s, they would often change the music in order not to pay royalties from the original Japanese version. Fans dislike this practice because they thought it can impact a moment in the anime. But can a dub’s replacement music change of how you view an anime?

Dragon Ball Z's replacement scores sure did for many, for the worse.
Sailor Moon's wasn't even a really complete replacement since they still incorporated the original intro in their stuff, and then an accurate dub was produced later on.
Initial D was outright killed by the ridiculous one it had.
But none of them have stuck around as long as the first example has.

Of course it can! After all, music helps us understand the author's purpose - how he wants us to perceive this moment. Whether we are worried, laughing, tense or relaxed and inspired. In short, music influences is A LOT

The only anime that I have seen where the music was changed was Bubblegum Crisis. The kept the original tunes and just provided English lyrics that were similar to the Japanese. It didn't change anything as far as perception of the show. Shortly after I quit listening to dubs. I did check out the replaced music on the Initial D dub, and it was bad but didn't change the show.
