I'll just have to take your word on Natsu since I never watched it. I have to watch the videos in SD mode normally since my computer can't handle 480+ that well so either I'm used to the subtitles or I've never had to squint. What was so bad about Sora no Woto and Shangri-La specifically? It didn't seem any worse than usual. (For excample, I can say at least three instances of suck in Erin and Haruka had the "cute boy" incident and they wouldn't stop subbing the sound effects)
You're saying that half the chart isn't moe blobs? Well that's just blasphemy! How dare Japan shoot for quality! |

Natsu no Arashi season 2 was just a mess when it came to the subs Crunchyroll was putting out.
Most of the names where misspelled or something was worded wrong, or it sounded like a murdered translation. I had to switch to fansubs on at least three episodes because of it. It was that bad when you have to switch from legal subs to a fan translation. Any way here's the Arakawa Under the Bridge trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pB5P00JVZls |

I specifically chose Kanon because the character designs in Clannad all look the same, and Angel Beats showed some pretty diverse character designs. And please, do not get me started on how much of a total let down Clannad and its sequel were. Seriously, I don't want to get temp-banned Well, here's an updated "my list" Top Priority Senko no Night Raid - It's WWII-era China. Do I really need any more reason? I'm pretty anxious to see how this one goes. House of Five Leaves - I have a fascination with 'old times' of the world; like Medieval Europe, and of course, the Samurai days of Japan. This follows a Ronin Samurai around, and it's being done by Manglobe, so it's a definite must see. Heroman - Honestly, I don't have high expectations for this one at all. But I think that's kind of what makes me want to see it even more; I don't really know why. The trailer featured some pretty awesome looking animation, and even if I didn't like the show, I've never known Bones to deliver a sub-par quality piece. Angel Beats - I've already explained this one. It looks like they're doing something different with "that" style. Shin Koihime Musou Otome Tairan - Yeah, I know it's not a 'quality piece,' but I've been a fan of this silly show since the first season first aired. I want more Sei, Aisha, and Rin Rin. Medium Priority Arakawa Under the Bridge - Honestly, the plot doesn't sound all too interesting, but it's SHAFT, so I feel compelled to give it a go. Working! - I've seen the first episode, and it seems like a fun slife show that will be good for down time. B Gata H Kei - Anyone else tired of the 'pure and innocent' high school girl who faints at the mention of sex? It's about time another anime features a high school female lead who actually wants sex. I'm not holding any stock whatsoever in this one, but I am going to give it a go. Hakuouki: Shinsengumi Kitan - Sounds like it could be interesting; more samurai swords and such, worth a shot. Low Priority (I'll eventually get to it) Ichiban Ushiro no Dai Maou - Sounds like more shounen-esque fodder. I may or may not get to it. Kaichou wa Maid-sama - Meh. More maid stuff. But it's JC Staff, so it may turn out to be fun. Sounds like there will be much gender vs gender conflict going on. Mayoi Neko Overun - It might be a fun ecchi show, or it might not. Only one way to find out... Kiss x Sis - I've watched the OVA episodes, and honestly, I found their content more gross than titillating. That toilet scene... *shudders* I wonder how this TV version is going to fare. No Interest (but still willing to check out if I hear good things) The Tournament shows. I don't like Tournament shows, never have. So unless they do something really good, I'll be passing on them entirely. Both baseball shows. Mainly because I've never even seen their first seasons. K-ON! S2 - I enjoyed the first season for what it was, but if s2 is just going to be more of the same, then count me out. Not Touching (even if you paid me) Ikkitousen: Xtreme Xecutor - Considering my rep regarding this franchise I don't think I need to explain this one Of course, the priority levels of these shows are subject to change depending on the show itself. I'm greatly looking forward to this upcoming season. |

Sound like murdering two masterpieces. And I don't mean Key products, never liked their teary drama much. The female lead looks just a tad too much like Haruhi, and that's not something I like either. I'll maybe give it a go for Kamiya Hiroshi's sake. I do believe good male seiyuu are worth following. I can only hope it won't be too cliché, because school + magic sounds pretty bad, and that trailer contained nothing original except the abundance of guns, which is a rather good thing. Convinced me to try this. About the Arakawa under the bridge trailer - rofl at the comments, IIIZZAAYAAAAAA! Good to see him getting attention though. |

Yeah...I'm pretty sure any claim of being a progressive female character is lost when said character is in an ecchi show made for lonely nerd to wack off to.
You know, when I see comments like this I really must wonder: What the heck would please you? I mean, this seems like an awfully balanced season with at least a couple shows for nearly every genre. Unless you have absurdly specific taste then how can you possibly not find at least a handful of shows to check out? |

This quote seems to be getting a lot of attention, so let me explain it so that no one else gets confused. You see, every season somebody has to be "that guy/gal." You know the one. The one who has to look at all the upcoming shows and then disdainfully announce that this season is, liek, the worstest EVAR!!! It's actually illegal not to have this happen (it's true, you can look it up). I hope this has clarified matters for everybody. |

Uh...because that's what you seemed to be saying? It seemed fairly apparent to me. Sorry if it wasn't I guess. |

Lots of sequels this season. Guess I'll try whatever people recommend. Major is at the top of the list for now since I enjoyed the previous seasons a lot. I wish the list was organized based on the budget each anime has. That would make it much easier to avoid the bad ones.

Not quality, man, they're shooting for BL! Replace every moe blob with a BL/yaoi series! The pendulum swings again!
Shangri-La wasn't badly translated, just mediocre. Fansubs for the show were a lot better. As far as SnW goes, I only endured 2 eps of the show, but it was mostly bad wording that ticked me off, as well as a few instances of "invented translation" (i.e. subs having little to do with what's being said). |

Does anyone find that so utterly egregious that the two ends of the spectrum of the hardcore Japanese anime fandom is either moe or boys-love in terms of genders relationships? The former has mostly girls where the relationships is out in the air and ambiguous while the latter is all guys and really damn definite what they are. You would think there will be a fandom of equal ranking and directly opposite of either moe or boys love. |

I guess Japanese female audiences are more perverted than male... maybe. I mean, bishies ARE a direct oposite of moe girls, but somehow always end up in some sort of BL swirl.

Just saw the preview of Yojouhan (on Sankaku). This looks to be my kind of weirdness. For some reason that I haven't yet been able to rationally formulate, I like certain kinds of weird shows, while not understanding others (like Trapeze). Anyhow, go Madhouse. Knowing them, it has to be dynamic despite the style, so I'm looking forward to it.
And holy smackers, Mardock Scramble - whatever it is - looks very impressive, good old cyberpunk. I didn't quite catch if it's coming this season, or just this year. |
