Another good shelf-life.

Yay, someone besides me praises Yugo. Smile

Not sure if flag sounds like it would be up my alley, not sure if the camera/video style perspective would be something i could tolerate for very long.

I never got to play Xenosaga (played Xenogears though) so it sounds like with out having the back ground of at least having some knowledge of the game, it might be worse then normal. Seems both game based reviews fell into that pitfall this week.

As to the figure collection, very nice. Cool

I saw flag in an issue of protoculture, and I thought it looked interesting. Now that I see it on shelf life, I must see it.

I've always wanted that swimsuit saber, but I've never found it within an acceptable price range.

I've gotten of sick of the embedded propaganda in damn near every western series I watch. (Even Spongebob has it for the love of god! Plus it has "smart people are evil" which really bugs me.)

Can you cite a specific example? From Spongebob, I mean.

Also, good heads up on Angel's Feather. It looks like something I might've picked up, just because of the pretty cover.

Granted I don't watch the show on a regular basis, but considering that neither Patrick nor Spongebob is particularly bright, coupled with the fact that the only character whom I've seen stated to have a college degree is the megalomaniacal Plankton, I think I'm at least right about that particular episode where the statement was made. (That was the last time I tried to watch the show. I'm not sure why, but that really offended me.)

I'd like to give the specific episode title, but I have no idea. It's been a while sense I saw it.

As for other's comments about anime being political cause of the "it's all America's fault" stuff, that's not what I call political. It's just nationalism. Plus, as Mohawk52 pointed out, we're the only superpower around. We're default bad guy country.

When I think about political crap, I'm thinking of specific political parties. Anime just doesn't seem to have that most of the time. Even if they do, I'm probably not going to be subjected to jokes and commentary about how evil Republicans are and how noble Democrats are. Honestly, when you can't even watch a show about vampires and demons without political crap getting into it, something is wrong.

Actually, I think Sandy the squirrel is quite intelligent. And the college education thing was probably a throw-away joke. Not meant to be offensive, I'm sure.

Wow, more reason to continue my lack of faith in critics.

Why the hell would you recommend a title that wouldn't appeal to someone just because you think it's wonderful? Hate the person you're talking to? Want then to realize your opinion sucks?
I always try to suggest stuff to people I figure they'd like
I have 3 volumes of Yugo & have watched the first dvd 3 times & can't get into it, forget watching the other 2. The Negotiator was much better.

Let's see, I watched Angerl's Feather over a month ago, It's a fantasy/alternate world story involving hgood & evil factions. School Pres Wakabayashi & teacher Sakakibara represent the baddies (Kazuhiko Inoue & Jyrouta Kosugi. Of course they're the bad guys. Just look at the reat of the VA's). Shou (Kappei Yamaguchi) transfers into the school full of pretty boys, including Kai (Hikaru Midorikawa) who may be the brother he was separated from when he was adopted from the orphanage many years earlier, Kai has issues over that separation. THey are drawn into the alternative storybook world where friends are turned into monsters they must defeat & Kai's issues come into play. THe land was ruled by a royal family that had white wings, but the land was brought to tuin by the appearance/invasion of the black wings & the royals all fled to this world. It suffers from being more in the complimenting the story mode rather than being based on the story & a separate story being written (like 10 Tokyo Warriors, Kizuna, Here is Greenwood-if one needs everything spelled out, it probably won't make sense. One probably has to know the original source material or be pretty good at filling in the gaps with standard plot tricks). It's the BL audience they're going for & it works for that audience.

What do you want from Jing? Something entirely different from the series? Pigs to fly? (In Jing, they often do) Since it had an English track, I was on the net posting on forums while I was watching, but I was still impressed wiht how it retained the feel of the series. We even get the backstory of how Jing & Kir got together. Jing takes down the big bad. It worked in the manga & it works in the anime. I found that evil angel cute. Jing helped the artist find himself.

Never too sure. I've seen people who recommend Eva to everyone. Or Naruto. Or DBZ.

I look at recommendations as a way to spread the love of anime in a country where "cartoons are for kids". I do often recommend Grave of the Fireflies" to co-workers who ask since they're mostly in their 20's-30's so it seems the best adult drama to intro adults unfamiliar to anime of what anime can be & not the Sponge Bob stuff their kids are watching. One gal I suggested it to thanked me & said it made her cry.
