I would love, love, love a full release of Hana no Ko LunLun. I actually grew up with the movie version made by Harmony Gold back in the day, a movie that was basically several episodes of the TV show crammed together. It barely made sense, but god, was it fascinating. I’d love to have the full context of the TV series so I can finally understand the entire story. It would be a real shame if the only thing people remember about this show is the infamous bees scene found on YouTube.

Biggest one for me would probably be Aoi Bungaku Series. The focus on several Japanese literary classics with mature themes and realism for this anthology easily makes it among my all-time favorites. A rare case where I had to seek it out through less legal means because it has never been picked up legally for streaming platforms or physical media release here in the states.

Mine is Jigoku Sensei Nube! It's a 90s Shonen Jump series which I enjoyed quite a bit even though it's not a complete adaptation of the manga (which I haven't read). The main character is lovable and some of the episodes look like they came straight out of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters thanks to Kagami directing them.
But the biggest issue for me were the fansubs. I respect the people making them but the Nube subs are really bad with some even contradicting or being the opposite of what the characters were saying!
I would love for the series to become more well-known and finally having decent subs!

Baccano! Baccano! Baccano!
It’s a crying shame that it’s not available to stream anywhere, and that the DVDs/BDs have been out of print for years. It’s such a great show—a crazy wild ride, just bonkers. I loved it so much.
But I will second other people’s nominations for Blood+ (which I never got to see the first half of) and Cross Game, which so many have recommended and has been on my Must Watch list for years.
Edit: How could I forget Planetes!?! I watched a handful of episodes back when it aired on ImaginAsian in 2007(8?), and have wanted to watch the whole series ever since.

I second Violinist of Hameln, especially because the English subs available on the Internet Archive are absolutely riddled with errors. I have to imagine a lot of people ended up with a tenuous idea of what went on in that show as a result.
There are a lot of shows I watched when I was younger that I'd love a good Blu-ray for (Gankutsuou, the weird mecha-horror experiment Betterman, etc.). Most of all, however, I'd like to see older, influential titles that I've never gotten a look at. I've read Japanese creators' essays about a Vampire Miyu series that I have no way of watching, for example. I'd love to go back and explore—preferably with a streaming option, since I can't afford to buy so many Blu-rays just to find out if I even like things.

It streamed briefly on Crackle of all places, but has never been picked up again after it expired there. In other words, it barely made it out of Aniplex jail before it got put back in, probably for good. |
I'll second this one as well. Never understood why that one didn't get licensed and released with an English dub, given that the video games have been successful in the States and its content should be very accessible even to non-anime fans.

The final episodes of Kokoro Connect (episodes 13-17) have never been released in foreign markets AFAIK.
It is an excellent ending to a very underrated show that needs a lot more love.

I would really likr to see these anime licensed and released in English dub for streaming: grand blue, mermaid melody, asobi asobase, level 1 demon lord and 1 room hero, helck, skip and loafer, bocchi the rock, and from me to you. The ones I want most are at thr beginning of my list.

Imagine when I watched the last episode on fansub tape, and there were "corrections" at the end that noted they'd subbed the main character, Hamel's, name wrong throughout the entire series as "Hameln."

As a huge mystery fan, I second Tantei Gakuen Q and also want to add Kindaichi. They’re both really good mystery series that I wish were more popular, but unfortunately traditional mystery anime have a bad track record when it comes to getting licensed properly in the west, as shown by how long it took them to actually start caring about Detective Conan again. I would also love both of their manga to be licensed too, especially since Tantei Gakuen Q ended with a lot of things unresolved that I heard continues in the manga, but me suggesting them for months straight in the Seven Seas manga survey has led to nothing.

Seems like most requests, at least on this thread, are stuck behind Aniplex licenses. I said it before, I'll say it again: Aniplex USA is a cancer, and people really need to stop buying their mindnumbingly overpriced shit. No, I don't care if it has "Fate" in its title, you're a simp and you're ruining the industry for supporting them. >:<
And on that note...one series I rather liked that's in the same situation is Blood+. I honestly have no clue where you can stream it, and the long-out-of-print DVD box sets are among the most expensive out there. It got a blu release in Japan, but like all stuff held hostage by Aniplex USA, it looks like a no-show outside of it.

I definitely would love to see a rerelease of Maison Ikkoku! I have the first box set that Viz released, but gave up buying them when I saw the prices jump up to several hundred dollars after the third volume. I wound up buying the two unsubtitled bluray box sets of the Japanese release, but would definitely love to have the series on subtitled blurays.

Man, these are mostly hardcore, deep cuts. Meanwhile I’ve just been holding out hope for certain titles I’d expected to be released years earlier into this anime/collector’s boom due to either popularity or creator involvement: Devilman Crybaby, Angel’s Egg, Mushishi sequels, 90s Kenshin, Takahata’s ridiculously good WMT serials, even Kemonozume since Yuasa’s hot right now… There have to be other issues holding most of these back. (Okay, in fairness, Anne and Heidi would be hard sells in any region that’s not quite so nostalgic for Paku-san’s takes.)

I just wish all the licenses for Non Non Biyori were held by a single company. As it stands, Sentai has Season 1 and the movie, Crunchyroll has just Season 3 for some reason, and I'm pretty sure there is no way of (legally) watching Season 2 in the United States right now. I don't understand how things like that happen.
Also, A Channel immediately comes to mind -- an underrated little gem of a CGDCT series that should have been a bigger deal than it was, but kind of got lost in the shuffle between the tail end of the K-On craze and the onset of the YuruYuri craze. Sentai had that one a long time ago, but it expired years ago and nobody ever picked it back up.
