*sigh* i hate 4kids... I knew this would happen... new sit back and watch One Piece bomb, as for TMM... it shall do the same thing! well, maybe not... but i think we need to bombard 4kids hq and kick the living hell out of their CEO until he agrees to release Uncut, un edited, un altered DVDs of both shows!

One Piece was obviously picked up to cash in on Pirates of the Caribbean. Although waiting a year later to air it might hurt it. Plus Pirates played it straight, while One Piece is going for a comedy angle, confusing newbies into thinking OP is a parody of the film, when it's not.

(Question : is Zoro being voiced by the same guy who does Seto Kaiba's voice?)

Y'know, you could go the less childish route and politely ask (and I stress POLITELY) through phonecalls & letters that 4Kids & FUNimation option to release these titles uncut just as they're doing with Yu-Gi-Oh! & Shaman King. Get as many people involved in this polite and civil letter-writing/phone-calling campaign, 4Kids & FUNi will realise a market for uncut & subbed releases exists, and they'll give it to you.

Pulling the same old whiny "OMG 4KIDS R SUCK WE KIK THER BUTTS" nonsense that you're exhibiting now will get you where it's gotten everybody else with that attitude: nowhere.

I think it is quiet sad the disjustice 4kids has been able to get away with. they have butchered now 6 anime series and have the nerve to claim that anime is a children's medium. At the same time they work hard at trying to cover up as much of the Japanese culture that is reflected in these series. God forbid we allow anyone in the US to be introduced to another cultures ideas, values, and mythology.

Personally I am mad, actually pissed that another series I enjoyed, One Piece, which should be getting distributed by a real anime distribution company like ADV, Viz, or even Media Blasters has been bought and butchered by a company which in all ways comes across as xenophobic. Who do not acknowledge anime as a more mature animation/art form. Who go out of there way to keep down the possibility that their can ever be TV shows on US television that have more body and intellectual intrigue in both story, performances, and style.

Aside form that 4kids goes out its way to dumb down the plots, ideas and characters of these shows, when such things are not needed. Yet when they are caught on this, they claim they are editing violent or inappropriate content. In my book we call that BS. If that is what they are doing, then how in god’s name did Ultimate Muscle (Kinnikuman) get on the air, and still have some of its more mature bathroom hummer still in tack, while the meanings and morals of the story totally lost.

In the end I am ready to crucify 4kids, they are a sleazy company who are only putting a bad name on anime and adding to the already in place speculations the common public have on Japanese animation, such as it being violent, pornographic, and possibly immoral, that it is also a medium just for children. they have helped successfully make the common public see anime only in black and whit and not to see the many shades of gray that exist. A company like this should not be allowed to be in business and especially to get the copyrights to series like One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh and Shaman King. Yet, if these shows have to be put on TV, which I am all for, they should not be edited as they have been. I can understand, taking out some blood and language, but the plot, characters, and ideas should stay in place, even if they may be a little more mature. Children need to learn that the world isn't so small that their is allot out their, besides they already are exposed to this stuff on late night TV and the News. Instead, the story is gone and all that is left is a repetitious gimmick to get children to go out and get their folks to buy them toys and cards based of these shows. The whole entertainment value of the show is lost and what we get in place is a show based on selling toys and pushing the violence that they claim to have been editing out.

So what's next on 4kids list to mutilate, Naruto? With my luck I am sure it is.

I've begun to realise 4Kids is in it 4Money,

we have to come to expect this, since 4Kids is 4KIDS, and they target their shows at a Y7 audience. Most of the times, these shows aren't things that Y7 audiences should see, if they were left in their Japanese format, but, 4Kids makes them FOR KIDS.

But, what 4Kids is doing is also allowing anime to gain attention. If they hadn't dubbed Pokemon, anime would be a lot less mainstream, and have half as many fans, from what I believe, atleast. Pokemon started something, even if it was due to 4Kids and their idea of a dub.

Anyway, as for the trailers...I need to hear more to decide anything. Luffy's voice sounds familiar, but I can't put a finger on it. Zoro sounds like someone from .hack--I want to say Bear or Krim, almost.

As for 'Mew Mew Power', it looks interesting, too. I've never seen/read Tokyo Mew Mew, but I think I might give the dub a chance. Granted, I know the names are butchered--but, it doesn't sound like something that'll make my ears bleed.

Hopefully the VAs will all fall into habit of making their voices sound like they fit the characters.

First off, good. I am all for wishing that pokemon never got dubbed, the main stream we have gotten are a bunch of immature fools who don't even understand true anime and refuse to try and learn.

Also what 4kids ahs done has not helped usher in anime, it has helped make the ignorant masses of our nation further believe that Japanese animation and anything from and of Japan is crap or trash.

So anyone who could even support 4kids and what they are doing is a fool and most likely new to the whole anime fandom. That or they are dumb or totally bought out by 4kids.
