Word is that this is a prequel to 2 (The game that the anime was based off) so that could very well be Henry that's the MC.

Wow, that could get depressing quick if they follow the anime.

It's not. Hikaru's story was told in the very first game. This game's protagonist is named Azuma, and it looks like he's going to get wrapped up in somethingorother involving a meteor that crash lands in his hometown.
