The official website for the Medabots 7 (Medarot 7; Medabots 7: Kabuto Ver./Kuwagata Ver.) role-playing game began streaming its first trailer on Monday. The three-minute video begins with the game's first 30-second commercial, introduces the main character Azuma, and highlights gameplay and robot customization options.
This will be the first Medabots game for the Nintendo 3DS handheld system. The two versions of the game will share the same story, but the 140 Medabots, 90 Medals, and over 700 robot customization parts available will vary between the versions. Early copies of both editions will bundle separate sets of Medabots augmented reality (AR) trading cards, with 64 cards in all. The game will also include a new battle system and "Medabot Album" feature, as well as an in-game casino and in-game toy dispensers that players can use to acquire rare items.
Medabots 7 will ship in Japan on September 13 for 6,090 yen (about US$77).
A manga inspired by the game will launch in Shueisha's Saikyo Jump magazine on July 4. The series will run for three months and will be drawn by Yasuki Tanaka.
