Um...that's just plain strange.
I know of two "Offenders": Gundam X & Gekigangar III OVA. There's bound to be plenty more. |

I guess some find it complicated to switch the version.
But then again, I've seen votes for show that haven't even been released yet... |

Really? Mine always has "English subtitled" as the default. I had a question like this once in the chat room too. The people in there replied that the users who vote they've seen something dubbed are usually just lazy or stupid, at least that's what they said. I agree, unless they're claiming it's an "original Japanese dub" or something. |

One of the recent cases is Ah! My Goddess (TV). Way before its premiere on Japanese TV, many had voted for the dub, and an user even submitted "5" for Number of episodes. I'd say users making such mistakes are either too inexperienced (which is forgivable), too lazy, or both (sigh). |

What you call inexperienced and forgivable, I would probably call overeager and unforgivable. But the result is the same either way. |

It's forgivable for a total n00b who doesn't know the difference between an OVA and TV... if there is such a person. |

We do have posts asking "what is OVA/OAV" every now and then (about one per 2-3 months), don't we? |

True, but when you go the encyclopedia and see: Ah! My Goddess (TV) Ah! My Goddess! (OAV) One would think a person would check both of them before adding incorrect information into the wrong one. I suppose such things are too much to ask. Like the 2 posts within a few minutes of each other asking for mp3 and then fansubs. I guess Teh Rules are just too hard to find. |

That, although natural for experienced users like us (just curious: how many years have you been using the Internet? I've been using it for over 12 years), might not be regarded as a golden rule for newcomers, for there are just more and more inexperienced users jumping into "the 'Net" every day, particularly after recent hypes about booming anime markets in North America.
Allow me to quote from another user, Utils:
I'm also thinking about this, for there are several users suggesting moving those rules and instructions to a more visible place. However, where else is better than the top most thread within all fora? Will changing font color along with ALL CAPS attract more attention? Maybe that will reduce a little bit for careless mistakes or asking for the obvious, but there are people who just don't read the rules, no matter how clear the warnings are. OT: There are thousands of cheating crime cases in Taiwan through a now stereotyped method by calling victims' cell phone that they've got a lottery or tax return and could be delivered to their bank account through an ATM, just by following their instructions and don't mind what the machine's screen message says. Many have lost thousands, some even lost millions. To countermeasure this type of crime, all ATM are now full with warning stickers telling users that ATM can only transfer money OUT but not IN. Yet many still get hooked, and some even yelled at bank security not to intervene when he found something suspicious and tried to stop the victim from losing his/her money. |

Probably about as long as you. I remember back in the old days when all there was in the way of boards was BBS and UseNet. I just feel that it's pretty much common sense to read FAQs and rules when you join something and don't know how things work. Certainly people do such things IRL, although I suppose it is getting more common not to. Yeah, I hate AOL with a passion. I especially love the commercials where the "members" barge into the offices and demand to have this and that and the other thing to be integrated into AOL. Give me a plain 'ole connection anyday. I don't need all that fancy crap. What I want I can get myself. And the browser? Just horrible. |

The updated browser for AOL is better than it used to be, so now instead of being horrible, it's just basically subpar. It's almost always a year or two behind in how it needs to function.
Still, it's easy enough and has enough for those who start on it to just stay on it, Remember Kazuki, in today's world, most people are lazy and don't want to go searching for stuff, and AOL takes advantage of that. Besides, depending on perspective, I have more reason to dislike AOL's members more than anyone else here. If you think you know idiocy coming from an AOL member, I probably have you beat. Fortunately I have over 8 years of using the internet, so I'm seasoned enough to read and understand what I'm looking at most of the time. I just wish more people would take the time to read what it is they are submitting so we don't wind up with dubs of series that haven't even been licensed yet. Goddess isn't the only one I've come across, and I just |

Perhaps whoever votes for the dub, it means they are voting for foreign fandubs (french, German, Arabic, Tagalog, etc.) or something else. (I've seen a Tagalog fandub of Advent Children, well a trailer anyways)

Magical Project S is another offender. I see three ratings in there for the dub, when no English dub was ever produced. Could be some confused it with the Pretty Sammy OVA, which is possible (the fact that the image posted there has OVA character designs doesn't help anything...)
Yeah, but there should be no reason for that now, since you can specify which language it's in. I don't think that's been around forever, though, so there could be a few in there that meant a foreign dub. OT: Cool, you have a Sae avatar. :) |

You want unforgivable? Two people voted the edited dub of Pilot Candidate "Masterpiece." |

Actually, the two Titles I mentioned haven't been Dubbed in any Language other than Japanese.
Sounds kind of like IE to me. |
