I have never seen slayers before, i wonder if it is necessary to start
in season 1 to be able to understand what is going in any recent new releases that funimation has done? |

Of course it's always best to start at the beginning of any story, but Slayers is like an ongoing series of books. One can usually figure things out as one goes along because each adventure is pretty self-contained. Characters are introduced in different seasons, but one could watch season 3, then season 1, etc. All you miss is character backstory, but it usually doesn't make the current story any more difficult to follow. One doesn't need to know why Zel is a chimera to be able to watch him in Seasons 2 or 3. One never really learns much of Xellos's past at any point so it doesn't really matter--"It's a secret" is his phrase. Does it matter where Goury got the sword? He's still dumb as a brick.
I haven't seen the latest round & it does sort of sound related, but the first 3 seasons are pretty whatever order & the movies are mostly Lina & Naga with no real relation to the series. |
