it's a really cool show, but I didn't really understand who the sunflower samurai is, and why does fuu want to find him?

I wish they could have given hints or something prior to that. That's a pretty long wait for such a major plot point. |

The sunflower samurai is barely even mentioned in the series. About 90% of the episodes are random adventure/spoof of the day.

the thing I like about it the most is the fighting and the blood-spraying. and I think I can wait until episode 19... thanks for answering my question, guys!

I myself enjoy everything about samurai champloo the fighting, the blood spary, the music, and the miss adventures. I could wait untill episode 19 like most people to find out what's up with the sunflower samurai but if I could be told now why Fuu is trying to find him, I'd more then happ to find out.

Sigh** i only watch up till ep17, coz I cant get the rest of the dvds.Though not my fav, I still enjoy watching Samurai Champloo. I hav 2 admit dat the anime's kinda slow. It focuses more on the cool fights, break dance, dat we discover few bout d sunflower samurai n the rather pertinent plot.

In the case of Samurai Champloo, this is a series where the story is less important than the characters and what they are doing. Once you discover who the Sunflower Samurai isspoiler[Fuu's father who left to an island to help a rebellion led by poor farmers and Christians. He also later becomes terribly ill and thus stuck on the island. And lastly, the Tokugawa wants him dead for his connection to the rebellion. They followed Fuu, Jin and Mugen the entire time, so they could find the Sunflower Samurai for them.] you will probably be hit by a ton of bricks, with the idea that finding him wasn't nearly as important as their journey on their way to find him. Other than some minor historical significance, he is just a vehicle to inspire this "Samurai Mix Up" if you will. Personally, I loved every minute of Samurai Champloo.

from what I've seen, it has the nifty intelligent character insight of COWBOY BEBOP, so far, I've liked it *And it will probably continue in this way*
which I considered more important thant the flashy action scenes by the way.. *hence me liking the movie over the series* but the action here is pretty cool too and I really like the music, I don't know why some people are disappointed with it... I really only listen to like, rock *and not a lot of it... mainly only METALLICA and AC/DC*, but this is considerably good *I'm not saying in comparison with the mainstream stuff... I have no comment on that mainly since I haven't experienced it first hand* it's a solid ass show, I haven't been collecting the DVDs though mainly since I have other stuff to collect... maybe in the future *I mean, I need to get CB first  *
and again, the only reason I like BEBOP better is mainly that it's set in SPACE , and space has a lot of... stuff in it |

I haven't seen far enough, as I generally only see as far as US title releases go, but I pretty much already figured that the main story that put them together was more an engine to do so than it was a means to actually create a vital story.
I rather like the style really, it's a style that could ruin an anime for me if done wrong but they just do it so well it has quite the opposite effect. |

I am the same. I have only seen what has been released in the U.S., and not even all of that.
I already know that I love the style, but I had been wondering if I should stick with it after the second DVD wasn't quite as riveting as the first. It sounds like I should go out and spend more money... |
