It's now in its third 1/2 year!!!
It's time once again time to renew the insanity of comparing anime conventions with carbonated beverages(pop/soda/soft drink). Below is the list from when I brought this idea up in August of 2000 on the animecons mailing list. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/animecons/message/2017 I usually post this con/cola wars every August to the mailing list, but I thought I would share it with everyone here as well. So as we have this discussion going every six months. I hope people have fun with this. AX = Coca Cola Otakon = Pepsi A-kon = RC Cola Sakura-Con = Cherry Coke Katsucon = Mello Yellow Anime USA = Jolt Sugoi Con = Dr. Pepper Nan Desu Kan = Sprite Neko-Kon = IBC Root Beer Ohayocon = Sierra Mist Shoujocon = Ramune Soda Anime North = 7up Discontinued Anime America = New Coke Anime East = OK Cola Cola's still up for grabs. Mountain Dew, Tab, Water Joe, Barq's, Squirt, Fresca, Cherry Pepsi, A&W, Mr. Pib, and many others. |

Do you not give explanations to go along with the designations?
Done scientifically, that would be far more interesting than the list itself IMO.

It's mostly based off of the attendence of the convention. Coke is the largest cola, Anime Expo is the largest convention. Pepsi/Otakon are second. RC Cola/Akon are third.
You can catch last summers dicussion of it on the archives of the animecons ml. It's partly scientific, but mostly fun. |
