What is the policy behind reporting PMs?

About an hour ago or summat, I recieved a PM (from a member whose name I will not say, but I can say that they are a regular poster on this site) that was basically 2 lines of personal attacks, capped off with what may or may not have been a racist remark.

However, I have no idea if I should or even CAN report this PM. There's no report button and since they are private PMs I'm wondering if it's acceptable for me to actually message the contents to a mod or something similar.

What exactly should I do in this case? I don't want to run afoul of the rules but this person did personally attack me and possibly attacked me based on my race as well.
