What happen to Monster or 20th Century Boy? I pre-order the first 2 volume of monster and vol. 1 was suppose to be release in Oct, now it seem like it's delayed indefinitely. We also won't be seeing 20th Century Boy until all 18 volume of the Monster manga is release, so that can take years. Another disappointment.

A couple of months ago, I really thought Viz was pushing to get Naoki Urasawa's work publish over here in the states, but now it seem like Viz has different idea. Also upon looking at Viz's new updated site, Monster or 20th Century Boy was not listed at all. I don't know wassup with Viz but I don't think the market needs another average Shonen or Shoujo title anymore. I know they're also holding back on getting GANTZ over here.

Is the Sienen market visiable enough here in the states or are we gonna be stuck with the same kiddy adventure and kiddy romance story?

No. Viz hates Urasawa. Viz had a viable excuse about delaying 20th Century Boys (creator request) and never actually announced Monster until earlier this year, so they're covered there except for this recent delay till febuary. I have no idea why this happened, especially since they were actually marketing this rather than the usual "treatment" their adult titles get.

That's an odd thing to say. There's a lot of Urasawa activity going on what with the optioning of a Hollywood "Monster" movie, and the enormous success in Japan of 20th Century Boys would make Shogakukan especially sensitive to the work's release here. That could supply all sorts of legitimate reasons for delays without animosity toward a product.

In response to the original posting, Urasawa's Pineapple Army was pubished in Viz's early days, so the literal answer to your question is, yes. It's already happened.

I was just joking. Monster is pretty much Viz's flagship title for their Editor's Choice line, and they're going to release it eventually. Since they had difficulties with 20th Century Boys being released before Monster, for once I'm going to give them the benifit of the doubt and say they do have a legitimate reason for the delay.
As for Pineapple Army, I believe they only published about a dozen or so issues, and like so many other early Viz titles it was never collected in trade paperback form. I doubt they even still have the licence.
