the inclusion of alchemy in the title may be a an extra selling point in the eyes of viz. on a seperate note i cant imagine the licensing ZP to be smart. since he series is in fact cut short there is bound to be complaining and whatnot, if it becomes popular. hardly seems worth it for 4 volumes.

There are better ways to do this, though, in the direction of 'Alchemic Weapons', since there SHOULD still be a connection between title and actual manga. Smile
But I don't think there's really much point in renaming the manga at all. Busou Renkin almost rhymes with Rurouni Kenshin, after all... Anime hyper

Viz is definetly gonna do some edits on Yakitate!! Japan.
I mean if the anime edits, of course the US licensing company is gonna do the same, or even more...

not really
If you look at the Bleach anime, where they added a wooden arm to Shiba Kukaku
and the Viz release of Volume 9 kept it like it was in the original japanese manga

i only noticed most of the edit are in the shounen jump magazine, it seems the seperate, non-anthlogy ones aren't edited (as much)

only edits I've noticed are indeed in the US serialized series, and those are pretty minor
but seeing as Yakitate Japan is gonna be in their Action line-up, it most likely wont be edited

The main reason is probably that VIZ is trying to build off the Rurouni Kenshin and Bleach manga, which are by the same authors as BR and ZP. Since both of those titles are fresh, releasing cancelled short series with "by the creator of --" would be profitable.

well I'm glad they decided to license Zombie Powder anyway
even if its a cancelled series, I would want to own it
but people should be informed about it tho, those that dont know about its cancellation

well, someone at a Yaki Japan livejournal community ( http://www.livejournal.com/community/fresh_made/75121.html#cutid1 ) emailed Viz, inquiring them about the license and she got a reply today
