I may not be much help considering that I have only seen the first four eposides, but here it goes. I don't know if you really need to watch the movie Blood the last vampire per sea, I am a little confused as where they tie intogether. Yet it might give you an idea of the story. But like I said i have only seen a few eppys so I am basing my assumptions on what i have seen. I would recommend it. I have found that I am being drawn in, the story is very intriquing and mysterious. I think (so far at least) that the action is a bit slower then the Blood movie but I like the pacing. It is a little gory, not as gory as Elfen Lied (which i love by the way.) Yet like Elfen LIed it pulls in you in storywise (just alot slower). I haven't seen enough to honestly say if there are other similitaries, then both have some gore in them, and well having intriquing stories. Sorry I haven't been much help. BUt well hope I helped a little.

I'd recommend you try to watch the movie, Blood: The Last Vamipre. It's not completely necessary, as the timelines and continuity are different from the series. But, that 45 minutes of tease helps to understand a few series elements (what a Chiropteran is, who David is, etc.).
And like I said, it's only 45 minutes. While it's way too short for any real enjoyment, it's a decent action/thriller title with some pretty good animation. As for the series, I personally like it for the plot and music. Now, the story does take a while to pick up (till around episode 20), but I like to think the episodes prior to that help build the mystery and character that surrounds Saya (the main character). The music is Hollywood caliber, composed by Mark Mancina and produced by Hans Zimmer. Action wise, it has it's share of gore, but it's pretty tame till the story picks up around the late teens to early 20s. I haven't seen all of Elfen Lied yet, but compared to Bleach, Blood+ is more mature, though not as straight forward as a shounen series. |

I wouldn't recommend watching that movie for any reason whatsoever. Really, Blood: The Last Vampire and Blood+ are based on different source material anyway. Actually, I'm not sure if there is any particular source for Blood+. You don't need one to properly understand the other. |
