I was just wondering some thing i just got into the anime my-hime and so far all i can tell is that there are 2 dvds out for it and one more in like a month to make 3 total. but reading on the site it says there are 26 episodes so are the first 3 dvds the first sesson than. So dose it mean that there is a second session after the first 3 dvds.

It's a standard one-season, 26-episode series. There will eventually be six or seven DVDs, and they are releasing them one every other month. The first one came out in march, second one in May, third one will be out in July, etc. I haven't looked at the releases list recently, but if it only shows up to DVD 3, it's probably just because A) the list doesn't extend into september (when I assume DVD 4 will be out) or B) The exact release date for it isn't known yet. But rest assured, there are 26 epsiodes and it is all one season, so you will be getting the rest of the DVDs eventually.

No, "usually" the first season consists of about 24/26 episodes. So, the 26 episodes you read about ARE the first season. Rememeber, "they" only release the dvds about every 3 months just to torture us. So it will take a while for the entire series to be released. There should be 7 dvds total. |

I'm guessing they'll probably shove four episodes into the third DVD as well. It would then make sense to put only three episodes onto the fourth, as that would make up the complete first "arc" of the series (as the first arc concludes at Episode 15). As others have said, there will most likely be 7 DVDs total, five with 4 episodes each and two with 3 episodes.
By the way, isn't "one season" 12-13 episodes? I think I've heard of 24-26 episode series referred to as "a full, two-season series" before. Or maybe that was Full Metal Alchemist. I forget. |

12-13 episodes is 1 season in Japan. 24-26 is two seasons. This is taken from the fact that each season (winter, spring, summer, fall) are about 13 weeks long, and one episode is shown each week. This makes FMA 4 seasons, or 1 year, taking up 51 episodes (almost 52 episodes, making it a 52-week series). Get what I mean?

I'd generally have to agree with this to a degree. There are series that take exception to this. This is usually because they have a sequel series Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex for example. Though to tell how many seasons a series has you can generally tell by the number of openting theme songs. Usually a theme song would cover 1 season or so. At least I think so. Hmm I don't think this is how they do it... There is a difference between seasons in television and seasons as in the 4 different climate divisions of the year. There are many examples of using the word 'season' and meaning something other than the 12-13 week quarter of a year, such as sports seasons or in agriculture. That may be a bit off topic, but if nothing else, look at all of the world non-anime television programs and you will see that typical 'seasons' are anywhere from 22-28 episodes. |

I think a lot of it depends on the series.
Take a look at Sailor Moon for example: The first story arc has been called Season One (46 episodes) . Sailor Moon R - Season Two (43 episodes); Sailor Moon S - Season Three (38 episodes); Sailor Moon SuperS - Season Four (39 episodes); Sailor Stars - Season Five (34 episodes) I also think it depends when the episodes come out. For example: Tsubasa Chronicle - new episodes have just started again in Japan about one year after the last episode ended. These new episodes would be considered to be Season Two. The above is my opinion at least. |

yeah i don't think TV "season" means seasons in our calendar.
like the above poster said a sport or NBA reason is more than 3 months. as for my-hime there is only one reason. you have to know that for asian shows, they don't worry about such thing as reason 1, 2 or 3. they just give the show a new name. or add couple of words to the name to identify reason. for asians, they don't have Naruto season 1, 2 , 3 ,4. they just have naruto. For us, we identify shows by reason, so we have naruto season 1, 2, 3....... Sometime different fansub use different season system too. i once download an anime. one group used new theme song as an indication of a new reason. but other fansub group used arc. they messed up my downloads because both said reason 3. |

Well, from what I know, I believe in terms of anime, season is defined as the 1-2 months that all new titles of that year is released (March and April). Otherwise, I dont believe there is a seasonal release afterwards. A series is released weekly till it is done. There is no break inbetween usually.

Is it just me or the My-Hime DVD has some sort of magical appeal to it. Theres something about that picture that is yelling out to me,to go and get that DVD. Its as if i can't live without it.

I can relate.
A couple of times a year a new series reaches out and grabs my attention beyond all my expectations for it. Last year it was Princess Tutu and Koi Kaze. This year it's My-HiME, only in my case it was an AMV I saw of it that sold me on it. And I may have to get a poster or wall scroll featuring Mai; she's my new favorite heroine. (And I'm very picky about what I put up on my walls.) |

You mean the actual DVD or the series itself? If you're talking about the packaging and stuff, no, I didn't think Bandai did a good release and it didn't feel "magical" at all to me. If you mean the anime itself... yes. I still feel a need to get the DVDs anyway because of My-HiME being my second favorite anime. It only seems right as a fan to support it even if I think they did a bad job on the release. |
