Why would we get it? We never had Doraemon presence until recently, and that's on an upper-tier cable channel meaning it might as well still be entirely unknown. Best Disney could do is give it a few hundred theaters in major areas and see how it does, expecting anything larger is just plain foolish.

You just blew my mind.

I see that Doraemon is really popular in Asia, while NA just got their TV broadcast.

I heard this film made people cry. I wonder how the microstates will handle this. Catholics are quite the emotional type, aren't they?

Exactly! The film most likely won't be released in US since the series is suffering through low ratings on Disney X-D. Even if it eventually gets released here, it's best that it just gets a sub-only release instead of a heavily edited dub. It's already bad enough that the series' dub was edited like crazy!

That seems to be working for Dragon Ball Z at the moment, and that's been OFF its medium-tier cable channel for years...
The point is, even a limited "billboard" release promotes the forthcoming video.

(If anything, the burst of box office for the DBZ movie could put those short-term Daffy Duck dollar signs in Disney's eyes about trying to replicate the stunt with their own licensed anime, and seeing if it works for them too.)

It's 3DCG so has better chance of success.

Doesn't matter if it's been off TV, it's bonafide nostalgia material in the US that millions grew up with and it's been continuously on sale via FUNi's rereleases. Doraemon IS NOT nostalgia material here and has only had any kind of official presence for a few months.
