At least he just touched the music. xD Sure the music was fine; the movie I pretend, however, doesn't exist. |

Can these articles about the movie please stop mentioning Jason Frank already? He's not in this movie, and if it's already started filming in Canada while he continues to make convention appearances around the US, odds are he won't be in it either.

Six script writers? That sounds like nothing short of a mess.

The first two Toy Story movies each had four.
It comes down to how well they collaborate together, and if it means they intended to have these six right from the start or if it means each of those six had created at least one draft for the script. |

Good grief, if there were that many early drafts, I'm afraid of what the final script might look like. Please just let them do a good job! |

The thing I really dislike about Power Rangers is that way too much focus is put on Might Morphin' Power Rangers. There have been what? 20 seasons of Power Rangers and yet we keep getting MMPR over and over again, comic, fan films, movies. What about Time Force? Lightspeed Rescue? These were all good shows but the west can't seem to acknowledge the entire franchise anywhere near as well as Japan acknowledges Super Sentai. It's frustrating. I get that MMPR was the first PR series but where's the love for the other series? It's like Japan constantly focusing on Go-Ranger which doesn't happen.

Looks like this Film is Actually happening not that I'm complaining but I just hope they don't try to make it too child friendly and also focus on the Adult Fans of this show (myself included) who grew up watching Power Rangers.

Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers ran for 145 episodes, received a successful theatrical film and directly led into a sequel series. Go-Ranger ran for 84 episodes and started a trend of annual reboots + film releases. It's no surprise that MMPR is a bigger influence in PR than Go-Ranger in Sentai. Most other PR series ran for a fraction of MMPR's length, didn't receive theatrical films and were mostly ignored by their followup series. |

Surely one of the six has to be the head script writer. With anything involving a team of writers, there surely has to be some sort of leadership. |

American culture is more about fads, trends, and nostalgia. Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Power Rangers, and similar shows with new entries pretty much fell off the map in America after the initial series and are looked at more like timepiece pop culture icons rather than legitimate franchises. In Japan that's not really the case as all these franchises are still going strong, and they never focus on any one series more than others. In Japan they always use the current series and cast of characters to promote the franchise. Over here you'll always get the cast of the first show, no matter how outdated it is. The most common example I see are women who dress like Kasumi to promote Pokemon despite the character not being on the show for 15 years. In Japan they always dress as the current girl. The most disappointing thing about this movie for me is that it's a reboot. The nice thing about sentai is all the main movies are in continuity with the series and often times are required viewing since they introduce plot elements. Even back in the day I remember the original Power Rangers movie directly conflicted with the show on how they got the Kakuranger powers. Then again sentai is like a well oiled machine in Japan where they make new movies every year like clockwork. -Stuart Smith |

A typical movie, regardless of if it's Hollywood, Bollywood, anime, indie, or something else, will go through many, many drafts before the final one. If the writer comes up with something better and there's still time before submitting the final draft, there's no reason why it shouldn't be changed. Of course, it's one thing if a movie keeps the same writer from first draft to final, and it's another if it keeps changing hands (which can also happen in any filmmaking environment).
It's what's most memorable to those old fans. It came first, and so it's what created the biggest impression. I don't know if ratings dropped off sharply after Mighty Morphin' was done, but it DID get that Ivan Ooze movie and tie-in game. You see similar stuff happening with most other long-running kid franchises too. Yu-Gi-Oh! will forever be associated with Yugi Mutou, Seto Kaiba, and Yugi's friends. Pokémon, Digimon, and Transformers are full of genwunners the moment you step out of their fanbases. Can you name any Sesame Street characters who didn't debut in their first 5 years? It's a pattern I've been thinking for many years about why it happens. The best I can come up with is that the initial fans tend to be the most numerous, loudest, and most passionate, and they also tend to burn out somewhere during or slightly after the first generation. People who come in afterwards are not as large in number or as loud as the original fans, and so they get drowned out or even silenced by them. TV Tropes has an article regarding this phenomenon they call First Installment Wins. |

Wouldn't the simple answer be that, well, MMPR was the only one that really took off in the west? Sure, Sentai does well in Japan. But, in the west, no other Power Rangers series reached the heights that MMPR did. Plus, it also has nostalgia. Those that grew up watching it are now in their 20s (I was one of those kids), and have some money to spend. |

Stuart, the required viewing thing is not a good thing. Good work should stand on its own two feet.

Hum. . . . I don't completely agree with that. While it's true I was really sad when they went and replaced all the originals PR's I had grown up with for the next season, some of the new changes they made were pretty interesting to me. For 'PR Turbo' they allowed a kid to be a PR which in my book was pretty a-freakin-mazing to my childhood self!
And by the end of that season they had the bad guys kidnapped Zordon which again blew my mind since I never would have thought something like that was possible. Then by the time 'PR In Space' came out, I was already eager to know what happened to Zordon and by watching that season I found lots of amusing changes. I for one remember my cute child like awe when they did that PRxTMNT crossover episode. Along with the completely massive meltdown I had when the final episode arrived and well - spoiler[they killed Zordon to save the entire galaxy.] That was absolutely horrible in my book! I wasn't particularly interested in any of the other PR's that came after that, but I did watch 'PR Lost Galaxy' simply for fun and to my utter shock and horror; mid-season, they did something I never ever would have possible! spoiler[They literally killed a Pink Ranger.] Yes, I know they eventually would replace her, but the point was that in the past, whenever the baton was passed onto a new generation, older ranger was still spoiler[alive] when they did it, not spoiler[truly dead.] After that season, I quit PR cold turkey. So yes, I will admit the first MMPR was indeed the best of the best for the American PR franchise, but some of the other seasons that came afterwards had their own unique quirks which made them rather memorable. I know that's not the case for everyone, but I do feel it's a little unfair to simply ignore the other seasons when they also tried their best to stand out. |
