Well, you got Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma, where Soma enters cooking competitions constantly with the threat of him getting expelled if he loses, and the school keeps finding new ways to put him at a disadvantage, like confiscating all of the ingredients forcing him and his team to go hunt them out themselves.
