Oh? They are still alive? I wont buy their release because they used broken written Malay. Last time I bought their products mainly Gempak magazines in 2011/2012.

I wonder what you meant by "broken Malay", is it (1) the "bahasa pasar" which is the Malay we use in everyday life which sometimes goes against the Malay grammar but it's very common that we just continue to use it, or (2) you mean the grammars in translations are wrong or words used is not suitable?
If it's the no.2, there are certain flaws in Gempak Starz's light novel releases but not much and they are improving over time, there's some broken Malay here and there but it's not noticeable unless you're so linguistic in Malay... for graphic novel (manga), don't expect it to be using correct grammar... 
If it's the no.1, they do used informal sentences ("bahasa pasar") for dialogues because it will be unnatural for dialogues to be formal sentences... and most people uses this "broken malay" in everyday life ("Dei macha, teh o ais satu, ikat tepi ah", "Ini hari aku makan goreng bihun, banyak sedap oh") so why would you expect standard malay in formal sentences for dialogues in any books? Imagine if you read "Ke manakah anda ingin pergi selepas sekolah?" (Where would you go after school?) as a dialogue of book in a story set in modern school, you will vomit... no one even uses "anda", the polite form of "you" (which probably came from Arabic "Anta" which also means "you") in dialogue in real life... people use either "kau" or "kamu"... or "awak" for closer friends / intimates / crush... It will be better to be "Mana kau nak pergi lepas sekolah?" for this dialogue... or sometimes uses "the sibling words", calling a stranger as brother/sister/aunt/uncle instead of "you", which is very common... |
