Did Welcome to the Ballroom manage to find an appreciative audience? From what I recall at the time, even the viewers it was designed for ultimately took issue with it, which is to say nothing of everyone else's views.

I'm unsure about Magic Knight Rayearth. I really love Clamp's Manga, but those older Anime adaptions are so ... long. The story always drags so much.

I am interested in knowing how a 6 volume Manga got a 49 episode anime adaptation.
