It seems a little overrated and confusing in how it does the world-building. And I prefer Hagio's other stuff brought over here. But yeah, again, if you want it, get it from Crunchyroll, now, because it may not be in print for very long.

Been a big fan since I first saw the movie ages ago and then read the manga. I bought this for myself and two other friends as an early Birthday gift to them.

I'm really happy we're getting more classic manga, especially shoujo in English! Denpa releases are always very high quality, even if they take a while to come out
Unfortunately to add to the downsides, a lot of people have been getting copies with the lamination on the cover peeling. I've seen a few on social media, and also me and my friend's came like that. |

It's good to know the 'pirate' thing was indeed a typo from pilot. That confused me when I first read it.
I have the Viz issues from all those years ago and was completely unaware there was more to the story. So the sequel's inclusion was a pleasant surprise. I also still have my DVD from Central Park but it would be nice if Discotek or someone could re-release for a new audience to discover it. Glad to see a retro manga getting a re-release, I wasn't too familiar with this title prior to this review. But any old retro manga getting license and getting a release/re-release is good for people like me. I like to read that whenever I have a chance.
Yeah, I can see Discotek or maybe Sentai Film can pick up the right for the re-release in the near future. |

That's awful! My copy looks fine, but I've had really good luck in general ordering from Books-a-Million. |

Looking it up, the anime movie was an old Kitty Film production, and Kitty has long since wiped its hands clean of pretty much every anime it ever produced. The last physical release it had in Japan back in 2002 only listed Shogakukan & Kitty as the owners of it, so the movie is probably stuck in licensing hell like many of the Kitty productions made for Rumiko Takahashi's works, like Maison Ikkoku (which has been admitted to be stuck in legal limbo). Definitely seems like an obvious "It would have already happened if it was possible" title. |

So this is why it hasn't seen a re-release in Japan, I take it at that. Oh boy, this is a nightmare, and going back to a 2018 Answerman with reason #3 for that. Unpopular opinion for me: If an anime title is in confusing legal limbo (like this one), and no company can get the right to it's IP due to that, then it should be in public domain!!! |

The only thing wrong with this is that I think manga and visual storytelling is done a disservice by saying this is "real literature?" Why does it need to be literature? Why cant it be a bold, groundbreaking unique luminary of its visual medium?

IIRC Pony Canyon owns the rights for those now |

Hopefully, it means Discotek or AnimEigo could pick up the anime for the US in the near future. |
