Looking forward to watching this but with how stacked this summer season is going to be and this being stuck on Amazon I sadly feel it won’t get the attention it deserves.

It's a kyoani title so of course I'll be watching it, I just hope it doesn't go under the radar.

Nichijou went so far under the radar, I had to buy its eventual physical release twice, because Funimation had zero faith in a show that was released years earlier.
I have no expectations but considering how English forward the "City the Animation" PV was, I think Kyoto Animation knows its main audience is not in Japan.

Huh? Why are you pretending that Kyoto Animation is not the most popular animation studio in Japan and think that they forgot that they have audience there. This anime was made for their fans worldwide and it's not just the english side.

Deciding between potential Amazon prime obscurity and Netflix jail must have been a fun decision for KyoAni.

I guess the silver lining is if City is able to generate lots of "meme" scenes that will be uploaded on Youtube by fans and thus increase its attention. Though I do wonder if this is going to get a simuldub similar to what happened to GQuuuuux.

It seems that this is the year in which Amazon finally decided to compete with other services in terms of anime licensing

Well, Amazon already uploaded an official Latin American Spanish dub trailer for CITY, so I imagine it's going to receive a simuldub. Speaking about that, CITY is being dubbed in Argentina, which seems to be the preferred place for Amazon to dub their anime into LatAm Spanish, in Argentina they redubbed the first 3 Rebuild of Evangelion movies alongside the premiere of 3.0+1.01 (though at least the recording studio managed to kept Shinji, Rei, Asuka and Mari orginal VAs from Mexico), Lupin III vs. Cat's Eye and Dinner Table Detective, Magilumiere and Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman were dubbed in Cuernavaca, Mexico, while Look Back and Übel Blatt were recorded in Mexico City. GQuuuuuuX was also dubbed in Mexico City, but I don't count it as being dubbed by Amazon, since in its credits it lists Bandai and Imagica as the producers.
The LA Spanish dub trailer for CITY sounded fine, though I'd say that the dub VAs voices sounded much more deeper compared to how they sound in Japanese.

I am sure the money is fantastic, but Prime Video is the new anime jail. I respect and admire KyoAni, but I am not going out of my way to watch CITY. Sorry.

At least when Hidive does the thing where they get one worthwhile anime per season, it's no big deal because Hidive is cheap anyways. Prime is NOT cheap; one month of Prime is over twice as expensive as one month of Hidive. And no one anime is worth that. It's going to take a lot more than one worthwhile anime per season to make me consider Prime.

Well, for fans outside Japan, US and other 4 countries it's good news this is going to Prime Video and not Hidive because will be available in the rest of the world and much likely with an simuldud. But hey, you guys wanted competition, more companies jumping into the anime streaming game, isn't? Wish granted.

I don’t care where you live, it’s not “good news” that you’re going to have to pay so much to watch this anime. A bad deal is a bad deal, whether you’re paying for it in USD or MXN.
And no, this isn’t at all what “uS gUyS” mean when we talk about competition. Competition means more services beyond Crunchyroll successfully specializing in anime streaming. It is not a win for anime fans when a generalist service like Prime or Netflix removes an anime from the anime marketplace. Maybe if they left the anime to the services specializing in anime, said services would have the financial means to expand into more countries, and then all of us could watch them at a fairer price.
