The game already received a remake in 2012 for the Wii, though it never got a release in the United States while it got released in Europe. This is something worth mentioning in the article.

I'm assuming this one is a remake of the remake, or at least referencing it, considering that one already changed the static camera original to be an over the shoulder view. Explains why they'd go from 4 to 2 (that, and the aforementioned lack of an NA Wii release).

They're going to be out of over the shoulder versions they can redo after this, so I'm curious how they'll keep it going. They could finally remake 1 or 3 from scratch, or maybe they already started on 6. Either way, it's cool the series is back.

I had no idea. Was that a remake, or just a port (like Okami)? Speaking of which: did it have fun motion controls? (I ask, as someone who definitely believes fun motion controls are a thing and a thing that I like.)

... Huh

I was literally going to spend the weekend with some friends for a horror game night that we've been trying to coordinate for months.

This was one of the games I wanted to play cause I never finished it way back when I bought the ps2 version for my PS3(ya know when Sony supported backwards compatible consoles). My PS3 red ringed and it got put on my back list, got another backwards compatible console and played newer games till that eventually broke down. After the 3rd one I stopped buying em and moved on to PC.

All this to say I was pissed that there was no legal way to play this game on current generation consoles/computers. Welp, guess we're playing silent hill this weekend

It was a legit remake. The gameplay style was taken from Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, from the "over-the-shoulder" camera angles to the random chance a ghost will grab your hand while you're picking up an item. Also, there are new event scenes and 3 new endings.

You control the character with the analogue stick and used the Wii remote to direct the torch. It had some new endings to it, which meant it had a new English dub. With this, it will now have 3 in total.

Are they redubbing it? That sounds like Xanthe Huynh.
