No surprise. Payment processors wield far too much power, and are big enough that they don't feel like they need to care if customers and businesses suffer for it. I'm guessing the "changes to the online landscape" is in reference to the various age verification requirements rolling out. It's just not worth it for smaller businesses to even try to deal with that, and I suspect that is the point. Governments can censor things without doing anything directly as anyone peddling something they don't like decides it isn't worth it.

It's awesome going to the Manga Planet announcement page for this and seeing an anti-piracy ad on the side. Confused

Not surprised.

I subbed to futekiya for a while and liked their method for digital reading, but was pretty unhappy after their Manga Planet merger. The buying of tokens and digital whatsits to continue to read what I had already been reading for no additional costs previously left a sour taste in my mouth. I dropped my subscription soon afterwards since it felt like I was paying for what would have been free samples with other publishers and I couldn't finish any stories without spending a lot more than the subscription.

Hopefully some print versions of the stuff I liked will surface. I like supporting smaller publishers, but don't like purchasing digital copies.

"Chapters" is giving folks who use this method too much credit. It's more like a quarter of a chapter that's broken into 2-3 pages at least and forcing you to buy more tokens to actually finish the actual chapter.
