This was so fun! Kaguya's energy was infectious and spread to the whole movie, but I thought they managed not to make it feel too overwhelming. While it was a little too fast in places, they knew when to let the emotions build up and the climax, or rather climaxes, felt satisfying. Iroha and Kaguya's relationship was adorable and surprisingly romantic too, I just wanted to see them kick the original fairy tale's ending to the curb. Check out the official music video for Yachiyo's debut song after you've watched the movie, the lyrics and animation take on a whole new meaning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UE1y01q6wzQ

Ohh, this movie was a visual feast for the eyes. And relationship between Iroha and Kaguya was really fun to watch and see them grow closer. I, too, felt the last 3rd was a little rocky and kind of over-complicated itself. But that ending more or less redeems it! spoiler[You can't get anymore yuri than having to pursue science in order to build an android surrogate for your divine AI girlfriend!]

I find that while it may get hard to follow towards the end on a first watch because they throw a lot at you, rewatching it really enhances the experience since you're going to notice many things from already knowing the twist. There are also layers upon layers of context you can figure out such as spoiler[all of Yachiyo's song lyrics being directed at Iroha and describing their relationship and her longing, or the realization that the classic fairytale of the bamboo cutter originated from this movie's Kaguya herself telling her story throughout the ages and it becoming slightly warped by people not understanding the modern world parts of it.] |

I have heard if you watch it the second time as well as pay attention to the lyrics, you'll get more out of it. I'll probably do that in another time.

Check out the full versions on youtube as well since most of them are longer than what they play in the movie. The second verse of EX-Otogibanashi for example directly spells out spoiler[Yachiyo waited for 8,000 years to see Iroha again.] |

I love this. Truly a love letter to vocaloid and it's music, streamers and VTubers. The animation is breathaking, the songs are amazing along with a unique spin to Princess Kaguya story plus some yuri elements on it. What more can you ask for?!
