I'd say Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade sold decently on the Switch 2, all things considered, I know there's a huge difference with the 702,853 copies the original sold on the PlaySation 4, but we have to keep in mind that this is a port of a six-year old game on game console that's not even a year old. Honestly, I've been in various forums and comment sections where there were tons of people that though this port was going to do gangbusters in Japan, but that wasn't going to happen for a multitude of reasons, aside from being a late port, as I already mentioned, we have to remember that this is the "return" of the mainline Final Fantasy series on Nintendo consoles, though to be more precise I'd say this is the first AAA HD Final Fantasy game on a Nintendo console, yes, Final Fantasy games were available on Nintendo's consoles since Squaresoft and Enix merged back in the 2000s, but those FF games were only ports/remakes of the first six games in the series and some spin-off games, it wasn't until 2019 that the games from FFVII to XII finally arrived on Nintendo, and while I do believe that there's a lot FF players on Nintendo consoles, Naoki Hamaguchi (FFVII Remake's director) admitted that with this port they're trying to build a better relationship with Nintendo, at least in regards to more AAA-style games, so this port's purpose is to get Nintendo-only players more familiar with the FFVII Remake series, so they can port Rebirth later and then we'll see if Part 3 is going to sell better if it does launch on the Switch 2 the same day as it launches on the PS5, but I'm still not so sure about that.

Yeah, I heard a bunch of reports that FF7R2 sold amazing on Switch 2 and these numbers look.. not that great? Maybe they're a bit higher than other Switch ports of 5 year old games but I was expecting at least 100,000 with the way people were talking about the numbers and hyping them up.

It is true that some people were hyping themselves a bit too much for the performance of Fina Fantasy VII on the Switch 2, but the game is actually selling quite well worldwide, I do believe that this time Square-Enix did not have their usual unrealistic expectatiosns, because according to some it seems they didn't made a lot of physicial copies, and I know that the game is actually a Key Card but it stil counts as physicial, since it seems it actually sold out in some places. And I forgot to mention, but if you check out Famitsu's website, you can actually determine how much of its stock a game sold, FFVIIRI has a orange bar, which means it sold more than half of its available stock, if it were red that would mean it sold out. That makes me believe that SE that it sold well in Japan, I think a good game to compare it would be NieR Automata's port on the original Switch, that late port sold around 30k copies, but it launched when the Switch had sold over 100 million units.
Still, if this Switch 2 and Xbox Series port continues to sell well, I wonder what would be the final saless numbers for Final Fantasy VII Remake, because its last sales update was back in August of 2023 and SE confirmed it sold around 7 milion copies, which seems fine, but the original FFVII sold around 9 million copies in the same time frame, and in Japan it sold 4 million copies, while in Japan it seems Remake has only sold 900k on the PS4.
