There won't be more than one or two anime left unstreamed by the time Crunchyroll announces all of its mystery anime, so the odds are at least 90% likely that this will get picked up.

I am not sure how to feel about the premiere. A large part of that is due to Dias and Alna. I get that in an era/land where life is hard and strength is crucial in a mate that Dias would be found attractive. The way Alna went from being snarky towards him to being utterly lovestruck in the span of a few minutes is a bit too drastic of a change though. Besides that there is the animation not being all that great. Building up a village is something I enjoy in anime so I will watch atleast a few more episodes.

I also found the "I hate yo...is that a dead buffalo thingy? I WUV YOU!" turnaround kind of lame. And also, I'm used to male anime protagonists who can be dense, especially in matters of the heart, but this one's just dumb. I get that he's goodhearted and wise natured and resolute, but still...

So yeah, big disappointment. I really had my hopes up for this one given the premise.

I am really wondering about the kingdom and how they operate. They dump their war hero in a grass plain without any food or water thus expecting him to die. Later on comes the third princess assuming that he has servants and funds to build a town with. Something is clearly going wrong there.

Besides that I try to ignore the whole marriage business as much as possible and those sheep are smart but rather needy.

As a former commoner, some nobles evidently did not like him, and turned what should have been a reward from the king into exile. And wanting him gone before some new conflict would start, which he would be looked to as a hero, was probably the point.

No idea if the princess will actually be a problem, or if it was a case of letting the case that her traveling for half a month (a full one both ways?) was rejected so soundly, got news that looks really bad of a representation of the kingdom, and using her own hand in marriage had no effect.

As weird as Alna's attitude shift towards Dias was, it felt kind of like they were speed running the intro to get to the meat of the story as quickly as possible. I'm not sure how I would have felt if it took 2-3 episodes to get to that point.

I also get the ick about Alna being 15, but in a period inspired piece it's probably not an unrealistic marrying age. Nor is their age gap, sadly.

The third episode was the best one thus far. There was sadly the mention of slavery but the characters being so vehemently opposed to it made it tolerable. The fun part of the episode was adding a fair number of new citizens and making allies. That group of ladies may be old but they certainly seem handy to have around and the two elf children are sure to become important. The new ruler of the nearby region at the end did not seem like a bad guy at first glance but who knows.

Finally, an anime character has a correct response to slavery. Being in no way cool with it, and ready to get violent if he thinks slave trading is happening in front of him.

Forget banging, what they need is food. Dias is spreading the word that he wants more citizens for his domain and with the help of Eldan I am sure that it will happen but besides a few homes, two not sheep and a creek nearby there is nothing. Monsters are rare in their area so that is not a reliable source either.

If Epstein didn't kill himself, has he been hiding out and watching anime?

Sigh. Anyone with a romantic bone in them should support a romantic bone. Everyone's only a few weeks old, anyway.
