The definition of "peak viewing period"
30. Teletoon/Télétoon is currently required to devote 60% of the "evening broadcast period" (6:00 p.m. to midnight) to the broadcast of Canadian programs. 31. As part of its renewal application, Teletoon Canada proposed to modify its evening broadcast period with a new definition of "peak period". The licensee indicated that, in order to best serve its core audience of family viewers, a more appropriate "peak period" would be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. each day. The Licensee's Reply 37. In response to the concern that, if the change were approved, Teletoon/Télétoon would have free rein to schedule foreign programming after 8:00 p.m., the licensee expressed its continuing commitment to schedule Canadian programs reasonably throughout the broadcast day, and stated that a number of existing and proposed Canadian programs are planned for broadcast after 8:00 p.m. At the hearing, Teletoon Canada made a commitment that a minimum of one hour of Canadian programming would be broadcast daily between 8:00 p.m. and midnight. With this change in place, Teletoon will only have to air one hour of Canadian programming between 8:00 pm and 12:00 am as opposed to a majority. The spring schedule (March until July) has not yet been set. There may now be a slight possibility of Teletoon airing anime before the fall, but it's unlikely. Also of interest: I was told over the phone that if Teletoon were to acquire any anime programming, they would like to acquire it in both English and French, allowing it to be aired in Quebec as well. It's not a necessity, but it would definitely be of benefit to francophones. In short: if Teletoon isn't airing anime by September, they're never going to air anime. So remember to keep on suggesting shows like Cowboy Bebop and The Big O through Teletoon's site. In case you don't know how: Enter the Flash version of their website , and log-in as a guest. Click on the map option on the left-hand side of the screen, and click on "Lambart Street", which is just north of the area you're currently located in. Navigate your character into the post office building, and you should find the "Suggest a Show" feature right inside. You can vote for any show you want as many times as you want. Though you may want to change your age, province and gender frequently, or else they'll get suspicious. ^_- |

Ahh. Well, it's good to hear that people are actually submitting things to them. I mean, they really can't ignore a request they're being bombarded with, and with this change in contract they no longer have ANY EXCUSE AT ALL to not be airing anime.
