I have a couple questions. first is how long will it take to get all the episodes to the U.S. I started watching when the all ready had 77 episodes anounced on adult swim so I don't know how often new episodes are realeased. Second is I heard that the tv series is ending before the manga is so will the manga continue the story after the tv series?

Some details were a little unclear, but from what I know for fact(from AS and other sources), if all goes according to schedule, and nothing changes(like airing dates) before it ends, then episode 167(the final episode) should air on AS, sometime in the range of May25th 2005-June 2nd 2005.

I did all the math myself, so it might be a little off, but this is what I came up with after checking all the stuff.

I hope this helps. Cool

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to address the whole post.

"Second is I heard that the tv series is ending before the manga is so will the manga continue the story after the tv series?". I don't know, but I heard that they're ending the show because they don't want it to drag on for too long and get way too repetitive(DBZ anyone?), which makes perfect sense to me.

"so I don't know how often new episodes are realeased.".
They're released on AS(Adult Swim) on every Saturdays AS(at 12 midnight), but it will stop after the October 16th AS until December 22nd's AS(At 12:30AM), where it'll start up again, and then, on January 4th's AS(At 12:30AM), they're start up showing new episodes on every weeknights AS.

There, I hope that covers it all. Cool

At AWA Adult Swim Reps said that they get the show in two season chunks. As far as I understand, they are supposed to be getting new episodes (If I can remember correctly) nearing the end of this year.

As for the manga, I can't help you there, but I hope I helped you a bit.

Also, VIZ releases a DVD at the rate of 2 a month every two months. So, at that rate, it will be around July 2007 before all 56 DVD's are out (not counting movies)

the manga and anime are separate. i'm assuming rumiko wouldn't go without finishing the manga unless she decides to base it on the series ending. the series ending might not even been complete. i've read on a few sites the producer said the first season of inuyasha is ending. people think that means there might be another series or oavs/ovas. the key word there is think though.

From what I've heard, the series ending does not bring any closure and stays faithful to whatever point in the manga that the episode(s) reflect(s). And how exactly do 167 episodes constitute only one season?

Yeah, he probably meant the first series. As we all know, IY will continue in at least one more movie if not an OAV series. That or some people are just trying to grasp for anything to believe it's not really over. As for the rest of the eps being aired, having the last episode air in May of 2005 is being very optimistic. Not only are you hoping that they license and dub the remaining 90 or so episodes at once, but also air a new episode almost every night. I think they'll stay pretty consistent with the dubbing/DVD release the Viz seems to be on, so I almost wouldn't expect to see Cartoon Network finish airing Inu Yasha until Late 2006- Mid 2007.

Yeah, that's why I stressed the fact that that would be the range, if everything went exactly right.

Then you need to edit your post a little since it says May 2005-July 2005, which is why I said that's a little optimistic. You've got the series ending it's American run by the end of next summer.

I'm sorry, but I don't know why I'd have to edit my post, please read it completely, and please notice this Quote from the post "if all goes according to schedule, and nothing changes(like airing dates) before it ends,".

I apolagize for any any inconvinience it may have caused, if I wasn't really clear with my statement in my first post.

What I'm saying is that the dates you gave have the American airing on Cartoon Network finished by next summer (2005). In all reality, this won't happen at all, you're being VERY optimistic on the time you're giving them to dub the series and air it. It's more realistic to say that it should be done the next summer (2006) or even the next winter (2007).

That would be more realistic, but as I mentioned before, on the date of Jan 4th, they're suppossed to start airing a new episode of Inuyasha on every weeknights AS(Monday-Thursday), if(and I do say "if") they don't stop showing new ones until they reach the end of the series, then it will end in the time-range I gave. I figured this would be covered in the statement "if all goes according to schedule, and nothing changes(like airing dates) before it ends,", I would imagine that stopping to show new episodes on the scheduled days would count as the schedule changing, or the airing dates changing.

Thanks for your time.

The problem is that you're hoping that CN will show it for around 20 weeks (about 4 months) straight, but with their track record you're more likely to get new eps in a five or six week spand followed by a long break of several months, and then back at it again. Yes, it's true that Cartoon Network buys in seasons, but they don't buy in Japanese seasons and they rarely show their seasons all at once. Cartoon Network likes to break things up over the course of a year in order to get the most of their shows. It's already taken them an entire 2 years and one month (almost to the week) to show the first 75 episodes (from the first episode to last weekends episode), I highly doubt they're going to show their remaining 90 or so eps in less than half a year.
