Does anyone think that the current state of the US economy will have a significant affect on conventions this year, whether it be a lack of attendance due to travel costs or the conventions themselves cutting back to save on operating costs? My wife and I used to attend Acen, but we are now going to to a smaller con (Ikasucon) because we were able to save a fairly significant amount on hotel, badge, and food costs. However, we pretty much broke even on gas since each con is about the same distance from our house.
