This is my second most anticipated series for this year so far, next to Elfen Lied. I finished the first volume a while ago and thought the first 4 episodes were very interesting. The creepy music and the spoiler[crazy kids with all those automatic weapons] really makes me want to see what's going to happen next. I've heard quite a few comments from people who've seen the entire series that said that it is the most disturbing anime that they have ever seen, so I just have to see that for myself. I special ordered the second volume over a month ago at Suncoast so they should definitely have it ready for me by now and will be picking it up the next chance I get. Volume 3 should also be out by now or close to it so I have to remember to have that special ordered as well, or just order it on the internet and make it easier on myself Rolling Eyes.

I saw this as a fansub, and when it was in its first three episodes, I saw it as nothing more than a pokemon type anime, and it then transformed into something more wicked, until in the last half of the series it gets downright disturbing. I have no intention of buying it at this time.

To be brutally honest, I'd much rather buy the manga, but I've been told that it's edited and it annoyed the hell out of the person who bought it, which put me off.
Anyone have any experience with the manga and care to comment?

If you could read Japanese or Chinese, try to obtain it in those languages. Chinese (Taiwan) version was licensed by Tongli. Oh my, time to buy volume 11. Very Happy

Take a look at the old thread opened by SnowfairyX, which also includes my old post. Feel free to ask if you have further questions.

By the way, the first chapter of volume 9 (I forgot the chapter number, and the book is not with me right now) "spoiler[Russian Mother]" is the longest and the best single chapter in all manga I've read.

Hmm, interesting stuff to note. I wonder if I were able to pick up some uncut copies whether I could find some text translations to read along with them *heads off to poke about*

The rumours are greatly exaggerated. So far only a few snippets of conversation have been toned down. That's it. Speculation is rife that a particularly disturbing scene in a later volume will have to be edited. I know that scene was edited in Germany, so it's likely to be changed in the US too. Anyhoo, Dark Horse has basically gotten an undeserved rap over all this and it would be a crying shame if that kept people from reading an excellent manga.
