Well, out of all the choices to come from a fan of a Studio Orange title, this is probably the best you could hope for. A Beastars fan would probably give you the map to a 20 year old Animorphs doujinshi buried in the Mojave desert, whereas a Land of the Lustrous fan would just instruct you to weep while looking at the periodic table.

It is a very good book. An epistolary novel (I think that’s the right term) between two members of rival factions in a war that’s involves editing the time stream.

The “letters” are left encoded in the DNA of an about to go extinct species, carved into a layer of rock about to be covered by a lava flow. The nature of the letters is as interesting as what is written on them.

Gosh, it is a good book. Maybe I’ll reread it….

Hard agree re:TriStamp fandom! The past few months have seen me having the most fun I've had on twitter since I joined almost 12 years ago.

I've had the novel in question in my e-library for almost 2 years, maybe now I'll finally get around to reading it...

I'm reading it now. It is a fantastic novel. The way it weaves the epistolary format into the time-shifting conflict is gripping and creates a unique atmosphere. I'm working on a new book myself at the moment, and this kind of intertwined plot inspires me. Early on, I found resources like https://penfellow.com/book-writing/ helpful in improving my understanding of many aspects of writing. Now, I am more inspired by the work of other writers as I try to find my unique style. This book feels like a gem that I will definitely be returning to.
