Oh this is cool, and pretty awesome to see. Slightly tangent but My Adventure with Superman comic had a variant cover that paid homage to Toriyama too last year:

Dan Mora (another comic book/graphic novel artist who does work for DC Comics) also honored Toriyama with this:

I would also love it if Shueisha could allow western comic book artists to do variant covers for this Dragon Ball manga alongside the 42 SJ artists. I mean Dan Mora and Jorge Jimenez (both artists that worked on DC and are big fan of Dragonball and manga in general) could do variant covers for this particular DB tankobon for Shueisha to represent DB's influence on American comic book/graphic novels, and I would love to see other American comic book artists lend their talent like Jim Lee did this one back in 2018 if Shueisha can permit this. Is there a way we can get Peach Momoko to do a variant cover too for Shueisha for Dragonball?

Hiroyuki Takei(Shaman King) probably would've got to do one if he hadn't cut ties with Shueisha, and Kazuki Takahashi(Yu-Gi-Oh!) if he was still alive. Sad

Hmm if you guys could only choose 5 covers to have which ones would you take? I'd take

5. Yoshihiro Togashi (Hunter x Hunter)
12. Yūsuke Murata (One-Punch Man)
17. Takehiko Inoue (Slam Dunk)
33. Hirohiko Araki (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) (my number 1 pick) and finally
42. Eiichiro Oda (One Piece)

Boichi, Tite Kubo, Hideaki Sorachi,Tatsuki Fujimoto and (sniff) Katsura Hoshino were sadly on my cutting list.

Aw man they got the pedophile involved. I wonder what his Jump collegues think of him.
I wish the images were larger so I could actually see them

They no doubt adore him given they did art for his own Kenshin exhibit a few years back.
Toriyama and Watsuki were particularly close friends so it makes sense Watsuki would be chosen to honor him. When Toriyama died Watsuki mentioned that when he was appointed as judge for the Manga Prize award back in 2022 it was the last time they spoke in person Sad
