Uh, where were you when that came out back in 2022? Do you not have Netflix?

For lack of a better analogy, this feels like the Bitcoin boom when all those other forms of crypto popped up and everyone wanted to find the next bitcoin. This is Warner trying to find the next Solo Leveling, when lest we forget, they tried to do Webtoon adaptations back when they owned Crunchyroll, and the ensuing products were not ready for prime time.

I'll be honest, I'm not really particularly opposed to a studio making the process super efficient and pumping out as many animated films a year as humanly possible... I couldn't like long format anime like black clover if I had some kind of moral problem with that. Just that (forgive the monomania) studios like this are most likely to embrace ai (see toei)

Yeah, right before it decides to cancel all these series before they can even see the light of day. Yea I’m still bitter about Batgirl, what gave it away?

I agree with you… I want more than what we got on Netflix… it was just not enough!

Why you got to be so cynical?

Genuine answer: because WB has a history of throwing new IPs, *especially animation* under the bus for not bringing in “enough” money, like, at heyday Marvel movie level money. Even if it performs very well or unexpectedly well, if it’s not doing Spider-Verse or K-pop Demon Hunter numbers, WB is pretty notorious about axing both shows and people.

The Stellar Swordmaster is a great series and it will most likely be a hit but I wish they waited a couple of years before it gets a animated adaptation because the story is not far enough along for it to not suffer the catch up to manga issues that many anime suffer.

I mean that’s kind of like what Netflix does or even Webtoons does if the numbers are not there to make a profit right? If the the production cost more than the viewership to where they can’t make money because people decide to Pirate their content or not buy any merchandise for the project… then why should they continue to make it… every company out there are in it to make money… if the not making money in the long run, they will shut it down and count it as a lose sadly..

From: We don't need any more animation projects. Kill all the ones in development.
To: These webtoons are so hot right now. Let's adapt some of them.

How long before this project is canned?

Stellar is a good choice to be adapted, story-wise and everything are far (by miles) superior in comparison to that sh1tty solo leveling... well to be exact, not even in the same league... althou both has different genres.... but mehhh.. "co-produce with WB" is a bit concerning... hopefully it doesn't dissapoint.

Given the utter turmoil at Warner, I’m going to guess when the first three attempts don’t reach Solo Leveling numbers and they pull the plug.
