| Quote: | | It's also really refreshing to see characters with this kind of age gap be in a pleasant and respectful relationship with each other. |
This is why I love the series so much. It's wonderful to see the main two just find comfort in each other's company as a salve to the problems in their lives. As someone who had a much older colleague at my previous job who I would confide in regarding various issues in my life at the time (especially when I was much younger), I get the same vibes from this.

I can actually believe that he hasn't put together who she is. The vocal delivery is different enough, and the clothes, makeup, and hair can make more of a difference than you'd think. Heck, even seeing the same person outside of the usual context can throw you off. I've certainly gone home after a work week and known that my brain wasn't braining beyond getting myself to the grocery store and then home, so I can believe he isn't picking up the hints.

I mean, I've shown up at work in street clothes (I wear a uniform) and people I've been working with for years have failed to recognize me.
I can sort of get why Yamada is playing two parts. She knows Sasaki takes comfort in her sickeningly sweet worksona and she doesn't want to ruin that for him, but she also enjoys being able to interacting with him as herself.

This is a cute series. I really like the dynamic between Sasaki and Yamada/Tayama. I’m Sasaki’s age now, but I’ve always gotten along better with people who are older than me so it’s really easy to relate with them. My biggest issue is with the substantial nicotine poisoning that these characters should have after downing so many cigs at once. I guess the anime won’t address that but as a former smoker it’s an aspect of the “funny” parts that makes it less likeable and fun for me.

Honestly, this kinda reminds me to the early relationship between Legosi and Haru from Beastars. Sasaki in particular has Legosi' shy personality when it comes to dealing with his feelings for somebody he just met and also happens to be ridiculously taller. I wouldn't say Yamada is like Haru but the core of the relationship reminds me how they were written in season 1 before they were intimate.

Great review. I love Sasaki's shocked "uh-wa-wow" cry
