Night Raid could have been pretty good without the superpowers. Like, really, really good. But instead that approached a sensitive subject matter as if it were Getbackers.

To make it shortly, Mukden (1931) was Gleiwitz (1939) and Pearl Harbor (1941) combined, and September 18th is the Day of Infamy of Chinese people. As for the anime, I still can't forget the awful accent.

Though I know it's practically old-hat by now, I loved Utakata's darker take on the magical girl genre. It was also nice to see both spoiler[yaoi and yuri] relationships explored, without pigeonholing itself into either genre.
Man, I would've loved watching Sgt Frog on TV as a kid. I am sad forever that Funimation wasn't able to get some sort of deal worked out with Nicktoons or whoever... But I love collecting it on DVD, too. It's definitely a welcome return to that atmosphere of watching anime after school on weekday afternoons. I seriously doubt they'd recast Dororo, that's one of Tatum's best roles! ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES. |

That's one nice anime club collection! I loved how all the VHS titles were in big boxes. A definite sign of the times.
I enjoyed reading about Night Raid -1931-. I picked up the BD for that over a month ago, but only watched the first episode of it a couple of days ago. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of it. |

Heh, I'm kinda pleased that my manga collection is larger than MIT's, and my DVD/BD collection is respectably close. And then I remember how much I've spent on my collection, and I wish mine had been donated to me

Saw a few titles bought from Taiwan: Death Note, Detective Conan, Hetalia, Hoshin Engi, Kindaichi, Ouran Host Club, Patlabor, Saiunkoku, and a few others unidentifiable ones. Haven't seen any manga in the fourth language though. |

If only I had the room to put my shelves out like that! I don't own that massive of a collection (but it is pretty close.) I just wish there was some kind of anime organization where I live, since its pretty much just me, and Shonen Jump style fans (i.e. teenagers.)

Maybe I exaggerated a little, but I think there are more action scenes than I can count on one hand. Especially in the third episode.
I thought that was a nice aspect of the show too, although it's a long boring haul to get to the spoiler[yaoi]. It almost seemed like the show had almost a pansexual thing going on, which was interesting. |

Haha, in our defense, we haven't been buying manga for very long at all; most of the English language stuff has only come in in just the past 2 or 3 years. But yeah, dang, that's awesome, good job on your collection; I totally wish my personal collection was like that, except I don't because I totally don't have the room.
We have a single volume of a Pokemon manga in Korean ^^; (Also a couple Singaporean/Simplified Chinese volumes, but I suppose that doesn't count as another language.) Don't know if you remember me, dormcat, but I asked you for some tips a couple years ago about otaku hotspots in Taiwan. Incidentally, those books are all ones I bought then ^^; |

I'm sorry you didn't like Utakata more than you did. It's grade from me got bumped up by one letter for having the same character designs as Kiddy Grade. But yeah, I'd agree with you, every time I'd start enjoying the show, some poorly timed fan service would jar me back out of it. The title song is amazing though, I'd sit through the OP every episode just for the music. |
