Berserk Creator Miura Wrote Plot For Anime-Original 3rd Episode

Episode featured anime-original apostle design based on apostle from manga's 14th volume

This year's 15th issue of Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine revealed on Friday that Berserk manga creator Kentarou Miura wrote the original plan for the third episode of the new Berserk television anime series. The third episode featured an anime-original plot. The episode premiered in Japan on July 15.

Miura stated in the issue that he wrote the plot for the episode because the anime isn't adapting the Conviction Arc's Lost Children Chapter from the original manga. Miura said he considered how to resolve a story development issue because of that, and came up with this original episode. The episode featured an original apostle, but the design for the apostle used a design from volume 14 as a base. The 15th issue of Young Animal previewed some of Miura's sketches and notes for the episode.

The anime premiered in Japan on July 1. Crunchyroll is currently streaming the series as it airs, and it plans to release the series on Blu-ray Disc and DVD with an English dub.

The 15th issue of Young Animal published Berserk's 345th chapter on Friday. The issue also included a double-sided A1-size poster for Berserk, with one side featuring a picture of Guts in anime form, and the other side featuring Guts in manga form.
