Macross Frontier's two heroines Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year with new figures and a new song release. The single "Good job!" will be released on September 26, the idols' first new release in seven years.
The song was recorded in the year 2059 within the series' timeline, before the final battle. It was used in an in-series commercial for the fictional galactic part-time job magazine Space Arbeit (Space Part-Time Jobs). The single will also include a solo track by Sheryl featuring May'n titled "Gooorgeous" (lit.: GO~~jus). The second track was featured in a music video starring Sheryl in Akihabara in March.
Additionally, a third track titled "Ranka to Brand New Peach" is also included on the single. The song is completely new and is a retro pop techno song by Ranka's singer Megumi Nakajima. All three songs were produced by composer Yoko Kanno.
The Macross franchise is currently celebrating its 35th anniversary. Other celebrations include virtual reality, live music concert, theater, planetarium, amusement center, projection mapping display, toy, shop, and network projects.
Additionally, composer Kentaro Haneda was honored as part of the celebrations in a concert held in Tokyo on September 17.
In January, the franchise held a collaboration event at the Tokyo Skytree.
